The Ethnicity in the census says Kven. Kvens are an ethnic minority in Norway who are descended from Finnish peasants and fishermen who emigrated from the northern parts of Finland and Sweden to Northern Norway in the 18th and 19th centuries.

But is this the same family as the Erek Erekson family in Greenfield, La Crosse, Wisconsin (1880) ?

Erek Erekson (50) in census-1880 for Greenfield, La Crosse, Wisconsin does not look to be the same person as Erik Eriksen born April 30. 1830 in Grue, Hedmark to parents Erik Olsen and Eli Poulsdatter.

Erik Eriksen born April 30. 1830 in Grue, Hedmark can be found in census-1865 for Norway with wife and 3 children:
Anne Danielsdatter b. 1838
Elise Eriksdatter b. 1860
Anne Eriksdatter b. 1862
Karen Eriksdatter b. 1864
The family emigrated a few years later, but none of these names fit with the 1880 census for Greenfield, Wis.

I've tried to dig up some more info on Erek Erekson's next-door neighbour in Greenfield:

Census-1870, Greenfield, La Crosse, Wisconsin
Ole Erickson, b 1829, Norway
Isabel Erickson, b 1835, Norway
Lena Erickson, b 1866, Wisconsin
Edith Erickson, b 1868, Wisconsin
Louise Erickson, b 1869, Wisconsin

Census-1880, Greenfield, La Crosse, Wisconsin
Ole EREKSON Self M Male W 51 NOR Farmer NOR NOR
Elesebeth EREKSON Wife M Female W 48 NOR Keeping House NOR NOR
Lena EREKSON Dau S Female W 15 WI NOR NOR
Ida EREKSON Dau S Female W 13 WI NOR NOR
Jane EREKSON Dau S Female W 11 WI NOR NOR
Andrew EREKSON Son S Male W 9 WI NOR NOR
Albert EREKSON Son S Male W 7 WI NOR NOR
Mary ANDERSON MotherL W Female W 80 NOR NOR NOR

Census-1900, La Crosse city Ward 7, La Crosse, Wisconsin
Ole Eriksen (widower), born Nov 1827, imm 1858
Lena, born May 1865, Wisconsin
Ida, born Sep 1866, Wisconsin

Census-1900 says he's born Nov 1827, and emigrated about 1858. Erik Eriksen was listed in 1900 as born Dec 1830 and emigrated about 1866.

What about this emigration?
Emigration from Vik, Sogn og Fjordane on 12 APR 1865 (right page):
#4 Iver Olsen Trytten 18
#5 Guttorm Olsen Trytten 15
#6 Erik Eriksen Trytten 24
#7 Ole Eriksen Trytten 26
#8 Ole Olsen Trytten 60
#9 Anne Olsdr Trytten 55

They are on the Bark Helena who arrived Quebec on June 14, 1865.
(The passenger list index Ole (77) & Erik (78) with lastname "Olsen", which I believe is wrong...)

#7, Erich Erichsen Trytten
Born 14-Dec-1829
Parents: Erich Iversen Trytten & Ragnilda Andersdr

I haven't found any Ole Erichsen Trytten born in 1827, but I found one "Anders" who is a brother to Erik. Could he be equal to Ole Erickson in Greenfield, Wis? Emigration year is a bit off, but other things fit. These brothers are not married, so any marriage must have taken place in America.

#88, Anders Erichsen Trytten
Born 11-Nov-1827
Parents: Erich Iversen Trytten & Ragnilda Andersdr

Yes!
In order to find the correct people, we need to know what fact's you have which are 100% proof, and what have been "copied" from others.
You start your topic with "According to everyone elses family tree, it does not make sense".

So you should summarize your info into two parts;
1) Bulletproof info. (E.g. Census'es, names, spouses, children, birthdates etc, and which you can trust)

2) Info copied from others family tree. Such info can also be correct, but chances are that the "quality-check" have not been good enough...

OK- heres what i got---

I am tracing back from my paternal grandfather: Ellis Erickson: b 04 Sep 1895 in La Cross, Wisconsin, D: 23 Jul 1954 same area. His father was Samual Erekson (Erickson) B: 02 Apr 1868 La Crosse, Wisconsin, Died: 15 Dec 1954.

His father is the parents in question: Erek Erekson born abt 1830 in Norway. Other family trees say that he was from Grue, Hedmark, Norway. His his Mary Erekson born about 1833 in Norway. According to others family tree on Ancestory.com, Her name was Marte Gjodingsdatter. Not sure if this information checks out. the dates and everything seem a bit off.

Now my research led me also to believe that Erek Olsen and Eli Poulsdatter were his parents I have nothing to back that up.

Ok. Good & clear info!
We have the correct folks in the US then, but the link to Norway is not verified.

What is your source for "Marthe Gjodingsdatter, born June 1833 in Norway"?

I think from another persons family tree. I have Mary Erekson listed. born abt 1833.

1880 census records might confirm this

The handwritten original of that page of the 1880 US census seems legible to me -- I'm at a loss how the spellings of Erik's names were so badly mangled. Always go for the original!!

Here is the 1870 census. This is where you guys believed that Ole Erickson is a possible relative. The only name I do not understand is Olof Erickson. He is 4 years old here and not on the 1880 census.
