According to records that I have, The oldest of Erek's children that is confirmed born in Wisconsin was Carl Erekson who was born abt 1859 give or take a year.

According to the 1870 Census record, Carl was born in Wisconsin and was 11 years old in 1870.

Which means that in 1859, Erik and Mary were living in Wisconsin somewhere if the Census record is complete.

Here is that 1870 census record again:

I do not think we have posted this from the 1910 US Census. Mary shown here as Marie is now a widow. Again that immigration date of 1865 (in 1900 it was 1866) pops up. Could she have been off by 10 years, she must have know that she had a child Carl in 1859 in Wisconsin and Ellen (Lena) in 1864 in Wisconsin, so how could she have thought she immigrated in 1865?

Name: Marie Erickson
[Marie Erikson]
Age in 1910: 76
Estimated Birth Year: 1834
Birthplace: Norway
Relation to Head of House: Head
[Self (Head)]
Father's Birth Place: Norway
Mother's Birth Place: Norway
Home in 1910: La Crosse Ward 3, La Crosse, Wisconsin
Marital Status: Widowed
Race: White
Gender: Female
Year of immigration: 1865

Some odds and ends gleaned from revisiting the 1900 US Census. Mary is listed as having had 13 children with 5 still living, meaning I guess that there are children tthat we have never seen listed in the US Census records we have looked at. I think I come up with eight using the 1880 US Census plus Carl. She was married in 1855 and immigrated in 1866(?). Although the immigration date is suspect when we consider the children and when they were born.

Also, another interesting thing I found. That Ole and Isabel that was found on the census records as a neighbor to Erek that we thought might be a possible family link. Here is their headstone with the last name listed. Might be of some help:

The headstone of Ole Eriksen brings up more questions... According to census-1900 he is a widower, living with his two daughters Lena & Ida. Could Augusta be his 2nd wife, from a marriage after 1900?

Ole's wife in 1870: Isabel, born 1835, Norway
Ole's wife in 1880: Elesebeth, born 1832, Norway

I think Ole and Isabel/Elesebeth married about 1855 in Norway, and emigrated a few years later.

Lucas, where did you get that photo from. I wonder if that is a different Ole than the one we have been discussing. I think the Ole we have been discussing was still alive in 1905 and living with his daughter Ida. See the 1905 Wisconsin State Census.

Name: Ole Erickson

I found it on find-a-grave website. And from the census records that you guys posted earlier, I thought it might be a match. I think I found the one for Erik Erickson also.

Here is the website link for that grave. Not very much information. According tot he records shown on the website, the year is correct but the month and days are incorrect. Not sure!?!?!?!

Also, I might've found something here, That Erik Erickson headstone above, It is located in the same cemetery as alot of his children including a woman named Marit Erickson. All in the Barre Cemetary in Barre Mills, La Crosse County, WI. The children listed in this cemetery match what is listed in the 1880, 1890 census records. Heres who I have found buried in this cemetery:

Erik Erickson Grave
Birth: Dec. 25, 1831
Death: Dec. 12, 1907

Marit Erickson Grave
Birth: Jun. 24, 1833
Death: Feb. 24, 1920

John A Erickson Grave
Birth: 1871
Death: 1900

Daniel Erickson Grave
Birth: 1873
Death: 1893

Carl Erickson Grave
Birth: 1857
Death: 1883

This one could be Edward:
Claus E Erickson
Grave
Birth: Jan. 22, 1865
Death: Oct. 28, 1887

Now the last record we have on Erik is on the 1905 census what shows him living in Greenfield, La Crosse County, Wisconsin. This cemetery is in Barre Mills, La Crosse County, Wisconsin which is exactly 5.4 miles from Greenfield. With this spelling and information provided, this might help us connect the dots!

Well now we know that Mary's name was likely Marit, that might help. Also, perhaps we have been looking in the wrong places. Here is a candidate. Marit Olsdatter married Erik Erikson in 1957 in Oppdal, Sør-Trøndelag.

#4

An issue here is the age of Erick Erickson.

Further on in the same year on July 13, 1857 is another Erick Erickson - Marit marriage. Here the groom is the right age but the bride is too young.
