Gunhild Tostensdatter is one of my father's ancestors in Numedal, Buskerud county. She was born June 2, 1833, and her husband Ole was born October 30, 1828. They were married in Norway in 1860. Before emigrating to the US between 1865 and 1870, they had four children:
* Ingebret, born November 21, 1860
* Tosten, born November 21, 1861
* Kjersti/Christine, born May 21, 1863
* Hellick, born July 27, 1865.

After the family of six settled in the US, the following children were born:
* Gulbrand/Gilbert, born in Wisconsin in July 1870
* Elli/Ella, born in Iowa county, Wisconsin, October 18, 1873
* Ole, also born in Iowa county, Wisconsin, January 5, 1875
* Sarah, born - probably - January 24, 1876 in Wisconsin
* Gina, born August 29, 1878, in Otter Tail county, Minnesota.

I am wondering if it is possible to trace descendants of the family in today's US. It seems as if many of them lived parts of their lives in Otter Tail, Minnesota.

Hi,

No picture of his stone but Ole is buried here, from findagrave.com:

And Tosten's and Ella's (a probable wife, unlikely sister):

Really - many of the family-members must have died early without leaving any traces! That is rather sad.
All the same, thank you so far for the good answers you have given me.
Hilsen Anne

There is a Family Tree on Ancestry.com that indicates that Gina Tweeten (Gina Tveten) b 1878 - d 1970 married Melvin Egstad b 1878 - d 1959. They had at least two children listed as Tille Gertrude Egstad b 1911 - d 1992, and Edwin O Egstad b 1913 - d 1990. They likely have descendants. Edwin is burried in the Ringsaker cemetary noted above by dodgeboy12.

Thank you for your answers. How can I eventually find the descendants of Tille and Edwin Egstad?

Hi Anne,

I attempted to contact you in 2 messages through the email feature of the forum, the first message came back some time ago as undeliverable and the second message came back the other day also undeliverable.

So what I wrote to you was that I would look at the obituaries for Edwin Egstad and Tillie Herting. The only survivor mentioned in Edwin's obit was his sister Tillie. Tillie's obit mentioned 3 daughters: Janet (Mrs. Duane) Malakowsky, Horace, N.D.; Phyllis (Mrs. Lyle) Haugrud and Carol (Mrs Oliver) Moses both at Pelican Rapids, Minn and 5 grandchildren who were not named.
