Thank you very much for the fast reply. Was it common
for a spouse to travel ahead of the family?

Yes.

The above records show these individuals leaving Norway from Kristiania (not Christensen which does not exist). Kristiania is an old name for Oslo.

You previously mentioned they lived in Canada after emigrating. Why not search Canadian ports and Canadian archives for their arrival?
Be sure to study the excellent online articles about that topic, including -

In 1985 Halvor and family appear in the state census for Holmes, Douglas, Minn.

The 1900 census for Holmes, Douglas, Minnesota noted Halvor immigrated in 1890 and took out papers for citizenship.
He, his wife and their oldest daughter & son were all b. in Norway. His dau, Hilda, was 4yrs in 1900 and b. in Wisc.

In 1905 he appears in the state census for Minn.
1). he appears on June 8th at a town called Hazel Run, in Yellow Medicine, Minn and then again
2), on June 28th, 1905 he and his family are listed at Wildwood, Itasca, Minn. He petitioned from both counties for naturalization.

He appears next in 1911 census for Thunder Bay, Rainy River, Ontario with his family.

His oldest son, Jens Torgal Jensson married in Rainy River and died there in 1993.
An Ancestry tree for son, Jens, named:

Jensson Family McInnes Creek – Ancestry Tree

has Halvor's son Jens immigrating from Norway to PA.

Name: Jens Jenson

Arrival Date: 22 Jan 1890

Age: 2 Years Estimated Birth Year: abt 1888 Gender: Male

Port of Departure: Liverpool, England Ship Name: Ohio

Port of Arrival: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Microfilm Roll Number: T840_13

Passenger list, though, states: Jenson, Paul C; Jenson, Guna M.; Jenson, Jens 2yrs.

I questions that this is the Jens Jensson, son of Halvor, that we are seeking.

There is also a Jens who registered for the 1917 WWI Draft - and the surname used is Johnson.

Note where he worked. Ontario!

As far a any other travel/immigration - I'm not sure I found anything. I cannot view the Canadian passenger info but can read the NY.

Below is what I found re travel. Not sure if any of them are who we are seeking. There were more than one Havlor Jensson's in the US. Not any specific passenger list with him and his wife and two oldest children.

Thank you for all the new information. Yes the McInnis Jensson tree is mine and what one of my aunts had in her records. Yes Jens Jensson was in ww1. This is the travel info i am tracking down.
I still have to study some record to confirm. The thunder bay note is of great importance. Still sorting the port he came thru. Getting various info there. Once again thanks for the help.
