That is correct, I was to quick.

Vennersten has nothing to do with Karoline, her father is listed above her in the 1900 census on Olafsborg as widower Johan Peter Johannesen b. 1840 working in a forge, perhaps as a black smith and were renters on Olafsborg..

Otherwise I'm not sure I understand what the last post was about.
- if it's my posting you refer to, I tried (in an awkward way maybe) to show that the widower Johan Peter Johannesen in the 1900 census was indeed Karoline Emilies father.

Hi,

This may be the death of grandfather, #2, left:

Source information: Østfold county, Asak in Berg, Parish register copy nr. Gb 0001 (1874-1946), Death and burial records 1902-1904, page 179.
Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=7356&idx_id=7356&uid=ny&idx_side=-168

Here is another entry for the birth / baptism of Karl Johan. Since information on his father is scarce, here is an added detail of his middle name, #16:

Source information: Østfold county, Asak in Berg, Parish register copy nr. Gb 0001 (1874-1946), Birth and baptism records 1892, page 28.

The bap. record for Karoline Emilie tells that both parents are rec. on farm Johnsrød-Jonsrød.
She was bap. Dec. 13, two days after her parents married.

Caroline Emilie " Hmd: "Husmand" (Cottager) Peter Johannesen and maid Anna Andersdatter Johnsrød, see #95

Caroline Emile born Oct. 26.........Peter Johannesen Jonsrød and Anne Andersdatter, see #70

Jonsrød, 3 farms in 1900, was in Våler

Can someone identify the places in which Karoline's parents were married and also where Johan Peter's parents were married?
(I can't read the church registers)

Can you determine if they have other children? I know my grandfather was an only child and I know he had at least one cousin presumably on his mother Karoline's side.

Also what does it mean to be a cottager?

Thanks

Caroline Emilies parents, Johan Petter Johannesen came from Jonserød when they were married in Berg church Dec 11 1868. No place given for Anne Marie Andersdatter.
Johan Petter Johannesens parents were married in Berg church, Johannes Nielsen came from Johnsrødningen under Nordbye nordre and Christine Jacobsdatter came from Grønnerød.

Cottager - translation of "husmann". Use this info

- who is "they"?
- this could take quite some time to find out.

Hi,

No additional children found in 1865 census at Jonserød in Berg, but most likely Johan Peter Johannesson's father Johannes Nielsen:

http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/WebCens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=10&filnamn=f60116&gardpostnr=343&merk=343#ovre

Looking only through the confirmations in Berg, I found these siblings of Johan Peter Johannesson:

Nils Jacob Johanneson b. 19 May 1828
Martin Johanneson b. 1 July 1830
Maren Johannesdatter b. 31 Aug 1834
Anne Kirstine Johannesdatter b. 12 Apr 1841
