I am looking for information about the family and descendents of the Julson family (mother Marit Juelsdatter Hoverud, father Jul Knudsen Svanheld, and eight children) who emigrated from Valdres to Perry Township, Dane County WI in 1848-49. Though I would be very interested in any of the descendent lines of Marit and Jul's children (Knut, Marit, Ole, Aaste, Astrid, James, Even, and Gertrude), I am particularly focussed on James (or Jul) Julson, 1838-1926, Civil War soldier and later a farmer in Waseca, MN and homesteader in Flandreau, SD. Access to any primary materials (letters, journals, pictures) as well as any oral tradition information would be most welcome. (I do have a copy of the Sardeson, Ekern, and Axdal HOVERUD CONNECTIONS.)

Have you tried this website. The owner appears to be a descendant of Astrid.
