My grandmothers family was from the Fauske, Norway area. I have found out that her parents were Gurine Hansen Wikberg and Karl August Vilhelm Wikberg / Vikberg. He might have changed his name to Vikberg to elude Swedish authorites? He had a wife or woman in Sweden where they had 2 kids in 1892 and 1893. Check out the info I found below. Their last child was my grandmother Gerda Linea who I never did meet. :(
Children: 1. 1. Johan August Wikberg f. 1892, ektefødt Johan August Wikberg b. 1892, embodies 2. 2. Bror Helmer Wikberg f. 1893, ektefødt Brother Helmer Wikberg b. 1893, embodies 3. 3. Tusen takk!! Yest Gerda Linea was my grandmother and she did live in Horten. That I did know.. but my father never knew or has ever talked about Gerda Lineas brothers or sisters? I am starting to put the family history together, but it is all still very confusing. The reason I got back into this is because I am trying to get on a TV SHOW there in Norway that includes Norwegian-Americans and the winner gets to know and meet all of his Norwegian family. I have dreamed of such a scenario since I was a little boy. I am now 43 and not getting any younger, so finding family and re-connecting to a heritage and culture I really don't know is one of the most important aspects I guess you can say in my life right now. Nobody should forget where they came from, or where their family came from.

Tusen takk!!!
I did make contact with a 2nd Cousin from Sunndulsora and she is also very interested in the history of her family as well. We connected because I did a GOOGLE search on my great grandfathers name. (August Wilhelm Wikberg). She posted how she was looking to find out the details and truth of her family history. We have different great grandmothers, but we share the same great grandfather!! I felt a lot like Leif Ericcson or something discovering something new! It brings me great joy that she helped me find my grandfathers family that lives in the Haugesund area or region. But we have never met, just now sharing some letters and emails. They thought that Kristian Johannessen might have had another child that was living in the United States! Well they were right! My father who is now 80 yrs. old, Finn Gunnar Johannessen lives in Calabash, North Carolina. He talked with a half sister he never knew until just last week. She is almost 80 herself! So can you imagine 2 people at that age talking or discovering each other at that age? One of the greatest gifts I could have ever given to my father. Someone who came to this country and gave up his Norwegian citizenship to become a U.S. citizen. Hopefully we will go there one day together so he can show me around his hometown of Tonsberg. Grab life before it passes you by!

Hei Nils. You are right. Leif Ericson also found what he was looking for You have done a great job yourself in a couple of weeks. Touching to read about your father talking to his sister for the first time. Genealogy is exiting.
Thank you for sharing your story with us.
