1866 departure transcription again, for Sigrid's family:
Ole Pedersen Kyllo 34 m
Sigrid Sivertsdatter Kyllo* 30 f his wife
Anna Olsdatter Kyllo* 1 f daughter
Peter Olsen Kyllo* 4 m son

BIRTH RECORD
Petter Olesen
Birth Date: 27 Jan 1862
Christening Date: 02 Mar 1862
Christening Place: Nedre Stjørdal, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway
Father: Ole Pedersen
Mother: Sigrid Sivertsdatter

Family found in Vernon, Dodge, Minnesota, but not located in 1870.

Pecking away at this, as family trees that are turning up have many unknowns or wrong info about some things. As one example, that Mali Christensdatter died at unknown time and place in Norway, which I'm convinced she did not.

No tree I've found, so far, puts the whole family cohesively together.

Mike Oiseth's wonderful website includes Sigrid and husband Ole Pedersen Kyllo. Gives Sigrid's father as Sivert Hemmingsen Hemre.

Here in 1865 on Svedjan, Hegre, Størdalen (as noted by Mike Oiseth) are
Ole Pedersson 39 b Selbu
Sigrid Siverdotter 39 b øvre Stjørdalen
Peter Olsson 4 b nedre Stjørdalen
Anna Olsdotter 3 b øvre Stjørdalen

Okay, I amended my recap to show that so far we have no evidence that Andrew in the USA had a birth name of Anders.

Back in an edit - the tombstone of Andrew S Lexvold is inscribed
Anders Severson Lexvold

Perhaps you are right Jane. It seems like he had a "name sake", It was the Lexvold farm in Ål that got me to assume he was a good candidate

I have a Reidun Alfhild Kyllo in my file, b. 04 Oct 1908, Fredbo, Meraker, Nord-Trondelag, d. 06 Jun 1969 in the same place. There is no parental information beyond that. She married Ole Skurdalsvold, b. 16 Mar 1901 in Skordalsvollen, Meraker, Nord-Trondelag, and died in Fredbo, date unknown.

Thought I'd check to see if this sounds familiar.

No, kleach, doesn't sound familiar. Below is some research regarding the family of Reidun Kyllo.

In preparing this response I did not reread this thread; I'll leave that to you...

Here's the family in 1910 in Meraaker, living at Barakke Fridbo:
http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/en-gb/ft/person/pf01036855002379

Jonas Kyllo b 01 Aug 1878 Hegre
Bereth Kyllo b 08 Apr 1880 Meraaker
Borghild Kyllo b 03 June 1904
Reidun Kyllo b 04 Oct 1908

A photo here:
http://marrakbogg.no/-/image/show/741366_lilly-og-sverre-dalaness-paa-dalaness-den-01-10-49?ref=checkpoint

A candidate Bereth was confirmed in 1895 (page 193); her birth date is noted and should match the 1910 census dob - but reading from my phone, it's hard to see. Beret Marta born 08/04/1880, parents Rollaug Paulsen? and Berit Olsdatter, residence Dalemsmoen? Link - see #24:
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb20060522100386.jpg

The marriage record for Jonas and Beret can be checked for parents' names.

In 1900 census in Meraaker, living on Fossen, is:
Rollaug Fossen b 1838
Berit Olsdatter b 1841
Ole Rollaugsen b 1867
Berit Rollaugsdatter b 1880
Ragnhild Rollaugsdatter b 1884

In 1910, still living on Fossen, same family, with full dates of birth usefully noted:
http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/ft/person/pf01036855001919

Here a Find a Grave entry for same man - Rollaug Paulsen Fossen:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSob=c&GSsr=41&GScid=2492070&GRid=109563308&

Living and working nearby to Beret Rollaugsdatter, in 1900 census - seems to be where Beret was living in 1895 - is Johan Bernt Arntsen b 1878 in Hegre, which is highly likely a mistake for Jonas Bernhard Arntsen.

Jonas Bernhard born 01 August 1878, baptism here:
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=6618&idx_id=6618&uid=ny&idx_side=-67

The baptism was posted by eibache in a thread started in 2005 called "Kyllo-Swensen-Kortegard-Neilson."
http://www.norwayheritage.com/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2255&whichpage=2&SearchTerms=kyllo

Also in the thread are records for marriage of Jonas's parents, Arnt Pedersen (b 29 Aug 1854) married Marit (Johnsdatter) Jensdatter on 29 Dec 1873. Links posted in the old thread. Arnt and Marit also had a son Peder born 07 June 1876. Thread says Marit died, and Arnt went to America (and remarried). Their boys were placed in an orphanage in Norway (not researched by me; see the old thread for discussion and sources).

The following needs verification, but seemingly Reidun's aunt Marit (mother's sister) emigrated and died in South Dakota:

Interesting, I am descended from a Knute Severson who migrated from Norway in 1857 and also settled in Deerfield, Wi.. His wife, Caroline (Carrie) Qualy (sp?) migrated from Norway in 1859. Between 1862 and 1883 they had 10 kids. We have not been able to find what ship they came on or what port they came to, or where they originated from in Norway. Any input on where to go next would be appreciated. Ancestry and Family Search have not helped to date.

dbehl, If I could make a suggestion. It would probably be useful if you would start a new thread. This thread is already six pages long and a bit difficult to slog through for information. It also starts out directed toward " Anders (Andrew) Severson born abt. 1817 in Norway. Lived in Waupaca, Wi". I do not know if he is or is not related to the Knute Severson that you bring into the discussion. So my suggestion is that we start from the beginning on your Knute Severson. If you would start a new thread and give us as much information as you can about Knute and his wife Caroline it would be very helpful.

I created a new forum called Knute Severson / Carrie Severson. Sorry I was unable to get the new forum created sooner. I also added some additional info in it, but will add more later. If you can transfer the related info from this formal, that would be great!
