Hi

I'm looking for the emigration of two maybe three sisters.

I have a lot of information about their family in Norway and information about their life in US, but I'm not able to find them in any list of emigrants.

Their parents were Ole Pedersen and Marthe Andersdatter.

First sister to leave Norway was Ingeborg Maria Olsdatter born March 14, 1859 in Modum. She was confirmated 1873 in Gran.
I find her in the US census 1900 telling she left Norway 1883. The 1910 US census tells she left Norway 1882 and so does her obituary which also tells she came to Milwaukee in 1882.
In 1882/83 her family in Norway lived in Eiker.

Second sister to leave Norway was Josefine/Josephine Olsdatter born August 26, 1861 in Modum. She was confirmated in Eiker 1876.
Then she is married june 1895 in the town(?) Norway in Benton county, Iowa.
I find her in the US census 1900 telling her emigration was 1890; 1910 census say 1889; 1920 census say 1885 and 1930 census say 1889.

There is also a third sister Petra born Jan 23, 1864 in Modum. She is confirmated 1878 in Eiker and found in a local Eiker census in 1891, but then I'm not able to find her anywhere. She might have emigrated, but I don't know what happened to her. She probably is dead by Nov. 1908 when her father dies, because she is not mentioned in the list of heirs.

Are anyone able to find their emigration?
The list entry and voyage is all I'm asking for this time.

(I have asked about them before and got a lot of information and good help, but nothing about their emigration. Much of the information in that query is wrong, because I had wrong information when I asked.

This is probably that same person leaving Norway. Some of the same passengers are in both list ie Anna Benson in Ancestry.com list and Anna Bents. in the Digitalarkivet list. Also the dates are appropriate. The only question is can you determine if this is the same Josefine you are looking for. For the years you are interested in, there is not much information provided in the manifests, such as destination etc.

Again this is the same Ingeborg leaving Norway. Also other passengers on the same ship, ie Hilda and Jorgen are next to Ingeborg on the manifest.

Thank you for helping me!

I notice that the Josefine arriving New York is Norwegian while the Josefine leaving Norway is Swedish. Might it be two different persons? Or a mistake in one of the lists?
(Josefine is also spelled Josephine.)

Ingeborg leaving Norway 1882 has Svelvig (Svelvik) as her residence in Norway. This is not far from Eiker so she is a possibility. She has a E. after her name; Ingeborg E. Ols.
"My" Ingeborg is called Ingeborg Maria (Marie). I don't find any Ingeborg leaving neither Svelvik nor Strøm or Hurum in 1882.
So I don't know how to verfy if she is "my" Ingeborg or not.

I know there were several ships with emigrants leaving Drammen, which is a port close to Eiker.
But I don't know if ships left Drammen in 1882/83 or if emigrant lists exist.

I went back and looked at some of the other passengers arriving in New York on The City of Chester. On that ship are Julia Hansen age 20 and Edel Hansen age 18. They correspond to Julie Hans. age 20 and Edel Hans. age 18 from the Emigranter over Kristiania previous page to the reference ot Josefine Ols.

Hard to explain the reference to Josefine being Swedish tho.
