May have answered my own question. Here is the arrival of Torleif. The manifest lists his father as Anders Hansen, Drevjen i Helgeland. Probably not your Torlief.

Torleif Blaafjelddal is not my man, but they grew up in the same area. ( Torleifs father did actually work at Torleif Blaafjeddal's fathers farm at the time he met Julianna and made her pregnant )
Haldis obit indicates that she was active in Sons of Norway, she should have had some interest for her Norwegian roots,so I must try to make contact with her son and see if they have information about Torleif. But feel free to continue to look for Torleif, I really appreciate all the help :) |

Can anyone find out about Fred and Anna Osing had children and if they have family who still live?
Got no reply from Borghild family, but they might not even know about her siblings since she probably never lived with her mother.
I think to make contact with someone is the only way to find Torleif, since I can not find traces of him in any records anywhere. But he's out there somewhere, I'm sure, but probably under a different name than his birth name. |

Easily done online:
www.mnhs.org Minnesota Birth Index 1908-1935, no child of the last name Osing / Ossing
at www.familysearch.org in Minnesota Birth index 1935-2002 no child with Fred Osing as father
They married in 1927 and there were no children in their household by 1930 census.
Unless they moved elsewhere after 1930 it doesn't look like they had children. |

I see where you have been seeking information on a Torleif Johannessen. I have no information on him but I can clarify some information shown in your various communications.
My parents were Borghild Hatton & john Olson. Borghild had a half brother named Fred (Frithjov) Peralist Oseng who married Ann Swirski on 04/28/1927. Fred was born 12/25/1901 in Majoen, Nwy and died 08/09/1971 in Minneapolis, MN. They had no children. His mother was Julianne Larson who was not married at the time but I understand a year or so later she married Jorgen Oseng and had 3 children by him. One a boy name Kare and two girls named Eli and Ingred. We knew Fred and his wife while they were still living.
Arne, a distant relative, told the story that Julianne, lived a hard life. She lived on her bothers farm and one night Antonius Severinsen, an officer in Mojoen came around to check on the farm. He saw Julianne and took her and was never heard from again. Out of that Borghild was born and raised on the farm. Her father was never heard from and they do not know what happened to him.
I hope this is helpful information. Mavis McGorman |
