Are you looking for information on his life and ancestors before he jumped ship or on his life in America after he jumped ship. |

Sorry, I should have been more precise. I need info on Karl and his family from before he jumped ship. We always thought he had siblings, but he never spoke about his family in Sweden. I feel the passenger list is correct. The 1930 census is definitely correct. He died in New Jersey, USA in 1961. Thank you

There is at least one Family Tree on Ancestry.com that gives the ancestry of Karl Andersen b 1884 in Sweden and died 12 June, 1961 in Ancora, Camden, New Jersey. This tree lists his parents as
August Andersson Birth 21 Apr 1850 in Silbodal, Värmland, Sweden Death 19 Jul 1917 in Silbodal, Värmland, Sweden
and mother as
Ida Agusta Hessling Birth 1 Nov 1850 in Sweden Death 21 Jan 1942 in Sweden
Are you aware of this Family Tree.

I'm aware of this tree, but I'm not sure his parents are accurate. Their source is OneWorldTree. This has his birth date as 10 Apr 1887. There is info by Hans Hammer for Pihera-Grossman-collier-Azar created in 2007, that has the same birth date. I really need to confirm his parents and birth date. Between the 1930 census and 1922 Passenger List, his birth year should be 1884. Thank you for your help.

If your Karl Anderson became a naturalized US citizen the papers he filed during that process would give information about WHERE and WHEN he was born. Then knowing where and when you can make your research efforts to study the appropriate records of that area to learn about his parents and possible siblings.

Some weeks ago I was completing a family tree and by chance I made a research for my Grandmothers youngest brother, Karl Anderson, who disappeared from Gothenburg in the early of the 2000-th century. He was born 1885-04-10 on the west coast of Sweden in Bro County in the province of Gothenburg and Bohus. In Ancestry.com I surprisingly found some related information – two family trees told about Karl Anderson born 1885-04-10 in “Bro Co of G. Bohms, Sweden” and died 1961-06-12 in Arcona, NJ. I think perhaps “Bohms” should be “Bohus” but I can’t find any original documents; birth, marriage or death documents which confirm or deny the eventually wrong spelled word. But perhaps this person is identical with your Grandfather? (I find your questions when I made a futher research at Google.)

The other tree was my first cousin's ( Helverson- Cliver ). She has found some of our grandfather's papers and I'm waiting for copies. As soon as I get them, I'll post a message. Hopefully it will answer some of our questions. |

In Ancestory.com, there is a family tree owned by "smoldan" related to Karl Andersson - he was her second cousins father- in- law. She told me she knew "Bohms" was wrong spelled and should be Bohusian and she has already made a change in her family tree. If this is correct, I think your Karl is my Grandmothers lost brother, eight years younger than she. As far as I can find there is only one person namned Karl born in Bro County in the province of Gothenborg and Bohus, on the 10-th April 1885. And there is only one county in this province called Bro. If we talk about the same person Karl had five sisters and two brothers but his younger sister Amanda died in childbirth 1915. His mother died 1912 and his father - my Old Grandfather - died about 1920. You could have my mail-address if you want to have futher information. Kindly regards from Kerstin |

Doris it sounds as if you do not have the exact birth (day/ month/ year) of your grandfather Carl Anderson? His birth date should be listed on his death certificate, and you may also find it on his marriage certificate and/or naturalization papers. Have you obtained these records? And the birth date is not there? Or perhaps those are the "papers of your grandfather" that are being sent to you...
Kerstinaxel - You know there are many Carl Andersons in the USA who were born about 1884-1885 in Sweden . . . |

Interesting, while digging further on Ancestry.com, I find a Family Tree owned by codoris. Parents are Martin Anderson and Josafina Krisitiansdatter. They have eight children, five daughters and three sons including Karl. Also includes the daughter Amanda who died in 1915.
Martin Andersson Birth 25 Oct 1843 in Foss församling, Västra Götalands län Death 17 NOV 1919 in Bro, Stockholm, Sweden |

Well bless us, lyndal40, I do believe you've made a match between kerstinaxel and dorisadams! As the Karl Anderson in Ocean County, NJ, belonging to Doris has the same birth day /month /year as the Karl Anderson belonging to Kerstin, it is enough to say they are the same man.
Yay! : D

Thank you lyndal40. Thanks to this web site, I have found new cousins. Kerstin and I have compared information and photos and we are sure Karl is "our Karl".
As soon as Ancestry.com does a index update, ( every 4 to 6 weeks ) the Public Family Tree search will show the correct parents for Karl. Correct parents for Karl are Martin and Josefina.
