Jacobine Carolines mother had been married to a sailor whos profession was first mate, the marriage record is #1 - the grooms name is Jacob Nielsen, he was a widower 33 years old.

Jacobine Carolines mother was 27 years old when they married, i.e. born approx 1792.
Karen Anniken Knutsdatter was born Aug 8 and baptized Aug 15 1790 in Strømmen church, see 4th record in second column. Her parents were Knut Larsen and Ingeborg Maria Olsdatter.

The printed headings for those church book pages are translated for you in the article that was previously recommended that you study.

http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~norway/na20.html

As you will see when you've done some study, the mother's name was not required on that record.

8 witnesses to what? WHO was rather important? You are skipping from the marriage record to the birth/baptism of out-of-wedlock Jacobine Caroline perhaps. Notice that there are just as many witnesses for other children on that same pages for that baptism. The number of witnesses doesn't necessarily imply anything.

Thank you both for terrific information. I will be doing some studying as you suggested and try to absorb all this new information. Your help is greatly appreciated.
