I am looking for Karl Ludwig Eugen Olson who I believe was born in Farsund, Norway in 1869 . He was married in South Africa in 1898 to Carrie Harvey so must have emigrated between 1869 and 1898 whether as a child with his parents or on his own as an adult.. As far as I know they came from Christiansand and had a shop in Oslo called Olson and Sons or Olson and Company. I would appreciate any help |

The birth / baptism of a man with those names appears at #19:
Source information: Vest-Agder county, Farsund, Parish register (official) nr. A 5 (1863-1886), Birth and baptism records 1869, page 24. Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=871&idx_id=871&uid=ny&idx_side=-27
Further checking could be done in the Farsund parish registers for his vaccination record, confirmation record and an utflytted record (record of his permission to leave from the local pastor)

I wonder if there is any information on the parents of Jon Olson and Georgine Parelius (mentioned above. I would also be keen to get information on their children Olaf Gerhard, Magda, Helga and Hanna. There was also a Jacob living with them and is stated as being a family member - where does he fit in the family. Hope this is not too many for one question. |

Jon's and Georgine's fathers are named in their marriage record.
It appears that this family didn't particularly follow the name practice typically followed by most Norwegians at this time--patronymic that is a surname based on the first name of the father--but may have done generations further back. How you "get" the information is by looking for people of the names you know in baptismal records, confirmation, marriage and death records which are mounted at the Digitalarkiverket site.
There are numerous pages with information about the parish registers and how the records are maintained and what is collected, etc. |

Not sure reg. Georgine Nilsdatter Parelius parents. Her father was "Kjøpmand" Nils Parelius, Merchant Nils Parelius when she married.
Perhaps he was Nils Rosing Parelius, merchant in Kristiansund town married to Ellen Gram, a son Jacob and a daughter Maren in 1865
If this is Georgines father he married Ellen Gram in "Nidarosdomen" Trondheim Cathedral, Jan. 20. 1840.
Georgine was born 1838. Perhaps he was a widower in 1840 or had a namesake? Merchant Nils Rosing Parelius married Martha Margrethe Lund August 11. 1829 in Ørland municipality, Sør-Trøndelag County. Fathers; Rasmus Brochmann Parelius and Vicar Hans Holst Lund, see here. She could be Georgines mother.
Reg the 1865 census he was born ca 1813.
Need time to sort this out, its passed midnight in Norway.
