Would appreciate help in interpreting Lier Frogner Parish record for baptism of child born to Haagen Olsen Egge on Jul 7 1685. I believe that childs name is Børge but do not understand meaning of words associated with it. Approximately middle of page.
Links are following:
Buskerud fylke, Lier, Ministerialbok nr. 1 (1672-1701), Kronologisk liste 1685, side 93.

Thanks for the input from each of you. What I see from the Lier Bygdebok on Egge (Vestre) is that Haaken Olsen Egge was born abt. 1645 and died Oct 1738. He married Maren Olsdtr. born abt. 1645 and died abt 1738. They had at least 4 children: Helge, Ole, Tor, and Siri. What I find from the parish records is that Haagen possible had 8 or more children. Because I have many problems trying to read and understand the old Norsk languge I have many questions.
1- How does Baard Egge relate to Haagen Egge? From what Einar states and what I find on the Mormon FamilySearch, I see Baard had two children:17 March 1672 and 9 Jul 1676.
2- Did Haagen have two wifes as I think I find by parish records stated by 06. and 07. in following references?

01.Haaken Olsen Egge married Marj Olsdtr 28 Oct 1677.

06.Then on July 24 1687 it states “Judlord? Haagen Egges qvinde”. I don’t understand this statement. Is this
a statement of Introduction after having a baby? I can’t find any christening in the prior months. Could it
be a notice of Marj Olsdtr.’s death?

07.The on 16 Jul 1690 it states “bandmit? Haagen Ols: med Aase Christensdtr: Jlen?” Did Haagen get married?

10.Haagen Olsen has a boy, Olle, Chr. 10 Jan 1697.

(First page, eleven (11) lines down).
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8434&idx_id=8434&uid=ny&idx_side=-158
11.Haagen Eggers has a child (boy or girl?). Is this the birth or death of the child on Chr. 18 Nov 1698 ?

Not easy to read or understand 1600s Danish/Norwegian, dif. words, incomplete words, dif. letters, etc.

Online is a "Tingbokprosjekt" translation of Legal issues in Lier 1683 where parts of the text had to be intrepreted by the translatiors.

Two of your links;
I Tranby bleff (In Tranby was) "judlord" Haagen Egges qvinde (woman/wife) og (and).......

Worth a try;
og (and) Bandmitt - Barn mitt - (present Norwegian Barn med)........child with Haagen Olsen and Aase Christensdatter ........
Child with make no sence

Off record.
Lagrettemann (Local judge) Haagen Egges seal from "Det Tiende Mandtals register ofver Lier Præstegield) the 10th census in Lier.
8 "Lagrettemenn", 8 seals; Haagen Egges seal is probably 3. from left, ca one inch from bottom here

Again thanks for your responses. I have question for Kåre as she states that Haagen Olsen Egge died in 1728 at age 93. I find that he died in 10 Oct 1738 at age 93 in the parish records. I am wondering what is correct?
Buskerud fylke, Lier, Ministerialbok nr. 3 (1727-1748), Døde og begravede 1738, notat- og visitassider m.m. 1738, side 257-258.

The date Oct 10 1838 is when Haagen Olsen, Egge were "kastet Jord paa" - i.e. burried.
Interesting note is also that he had "boet sammen med sin Hustrue 61 Aar" - i.e. ha had been married with the same wife for 61 years. The question is did he just have one wife, what about the marriages found in this topic?

Since we are back in the 1600s, an interesting project in Lier is the translation of "Tingbokprosjektet" mentioned above.
An unpopular extra tax to fund all the wars against Sweden that effected all alike was "kop og fe skatt" Head and cattle tax from 1685.

A short summary.

I Jessu nafn (In the name of Jesus)
......Royal Majestys Bailiff honest and honorable man Monseigneur Johan von Cappelen the younger.............his Royal Majestys taxes and rights....... "Kop och queg schat aff dend 11 Decembris 1685 " Head and cattle tax of December 11. 1685.

Haagen Egges tax in -85 was 4 RiksDaler, 1 Mark and 10 shilling.
See ca 1/2 an Inch down chapter;
f 1 a and f 1 b, Link

Looking into the old scanned churcbooks in Lier the name "Dragon" often appears.
Because of the flat and wide land, present Lier is one of the best areas for fruit and vegetables in Norway.
In the past these farms had many horses.
That was perhaps why so many soldiers from Lier were trained to be Dragons.
Dragon was a cavalry man, trained to fight both on the ground and from the horse back.

Again thanks to Kåre og Einar. I know a lot more about Haagen now then a few days ago, but still a lot of questions.
Haagen was born ca. 1645. Begravet records state Haage Olsen Egge was 93 aar when he died in 1738 after being married to same women for 61 years which gives marriage date of 1677 which is what is found. Although parish records say it was in Tranneby if records are right. Haagen Eggers qvinde (Karj?) passes away in 1738 at 93 aar after being married to the same man for 61 years. Buskerud fylke, Lier, Ministerialbok nr. 3 (1727-1748), Døde og begravede 1738, side 255-256.
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8436&idx_id=8436&uid=ny&idx_side=-134
I beleive this verifies that Haagen had only one marriage and that his name was Haagen Olsen Egge.

Question 1 - I still am confused about who Baard Egge was and how he relates to Haagen Egge?

Question 2 - How does Åse Christensdtr. come into the picture? Is there another Haage Olsen around during this period? The marriage of Haagen Olse and Åse Christensdtr. in Jan 1690 was in Frogner and the baby born in Jun 1690 was in Tranneby. Question of parishes?

Question 3 - Haagen has daughter born in Apr 1680. Could this be Helge?

Question 4 - Haagen Egge's qvinde is introduced at Tranneby Jul 24 1687. Are wifes introduced for reasons other than having a baby? If not there is no child born in the prior 6 months according to my search.

Question 5 - Haagen Olsen Tranby has boy Olle born Jun 1693. Haagen Olsen Frogner has boy Olle born Jan 1697. If same father, I assume that the first Olle died prior to 1697.

Question 6 - Is it possible to the name of Haagen's child that died in 1698?

Thanks for any help. Gene Nelson

Haagen Egges Qvinde was burried (kastet Jord paa) March 3 1738, she was Mari Olsdatter (in the burrial record "Kastet Jord paa" is stated twice).
Question 3
From Lier bygdebok: "Håken Olsen Auvi, f.ca. 1645, d. 1738, g.m. Maren Olsdtr., f.ca. 1645, d. 1738. Barn: Helge, Ole, Tor, Siri." - Helge could have been the female, born 1680.
Siri = Sirj baptized Febr 1682
Tor = Tord born 1684
Ole = Olle bapt June 11 1693, (Olle baptized 1697 was Haagen Olsen, Nordbyes son)

Baard Egge was Baard Sørensen Nedre (Lower) Egge, son of Søren Baardsen Egge 1585-1672 and Astri Andersdatter d. 1699. Baard settled down on farm Årkvilsa 1693 when his son Augustinius b. ca 1673 takes over Egge .

Lier Bygdebok has info reg. the Egge farms.
Nedre Egge was Baards farm and Vestre (Western) Egge was Haagens farm, link
An automatic translation will be ca 90 % correct, some names on farms and persons etc. can bee wrongfully translated.

Good luck
