I am looking for information on Martin E. Gullord and his wife Elisabeth Beitland Gullord. Martin's parents were Even and Karen (Carrie) ? as we know they didn't use Gullord in Norway. Is there a farm name similar to Gullord? We think they were from the area of Frondhjin or a place called Biri. Elisabeth's birthdate if July 30, 1852 and Martin's is Nov. 4, 1847. We know that Martin had a sister Petra ? (Gladstad) and a brother Henry who married Elisabeth's sister, Christine. Is this area in Nord-Trøndelag area? Martin and family lived in Winnebago County, Iowa and some of the family later lived in or near Bricelyn, MN. We liked to know how many were in each family and when they emmigrated to America. Thank you for any help.....

Thank you for the information! But, we now have more questions. Can you find when Martin emmigrated to America? Also the years of the rest of the family......When did Even and Karen die? Are there maps showing the Gullord farms in Oppland? Also maps showing where the Beitlands lived near Hegra.......The family is thrilled with this information as they didn't know where to start!

Hi.
A challenge.
The church books from Biri 1789-1814 and 1854-1877 were lost in a fire 1890.
Parts of the books are kept on microfilm.
Source; Gjøvik and Toten historielag" Gjøvik and Toten history society.

The name is spelled Gullor today.
Enter this map, write Gullor and click on Gullor, øvre, Gjøvik.

Good luck

Even Pedersen Gullord died after 1875.
Seems like he owned two farms, Øvre Gullord and Gullordsletten.

Info tells he sold Gullordsletten or Øvre Gullord in 1855 and bought it back in 1875, see here

"Føderaadsmand" Even Pedersen (married) born 1818 on Kvatum (Qvatum) died on Gulord April 14. 1891, buried April 25.
Course of death; of age, #15

"Føderaadamand" means that Gullord was taken over (sold) to the heir (Most likely why Sigvald Evensen Gullord returned from USA) and Even Pedersen and his wife Ingeborg Svendsdatter was secured by a legal right free supplies on Gullord as long as they lived. (even if the farm was sold)
