Thank you so much! Is Vikermoen near the Viker church? I visited Ringerud and Bergsund this summer, and the Viker church.

Vikermoen is ca 200 yds north from Viker Church, across the road and close to lake Sperillen
Enter this map, write Vikermoen, Ringerike and click on Søk.

Good luck.

Thank you JK Marler. I am so happy to have found him. Now I am looking for his wife (they married in 1892 in Seattle). She was Anne Moi (Moe), birth 1870 in Norway, died 1931 Seattle. The 1920 census says she immigrated in 1890, and the 1930 census says 1888, which is when he immigrated. A family tree on ancestry says that she was born 11/29/1870 in Tjomeland, Lyngdal, Moi, Norway near Moi, Norway Lutheran Church. I found a Moi in Rogaland but I didn't find a birth that matched the description in 1870. There is also Lyngdal in Vest-Augder. Her obituary gave her name as Anne Moe Sandvigen. Another mystery! I found an Anna Moe (looks like Moi on the original list) with an arrival date of 3 Aug 1888, but it gives her birth date as "about 1866" which would be 4 years off. That was on the ship Geiser.

4 Moi farms in Lyngdal and 16 farms in Kvinesdal municipalities in Vest-Agder County
15 Moi farms in Lunde and 2 in Helleland municipalities, Rogaland County.

Total 104 persons living on Moi farms in 1865

Census-1900 says Annie is born January 1872. I think she is born January 12th, 1871.

Parents: Farmer Christian Gundersen & wife Inger Maria Johannesdatter, Tjomeland

Confirmation record #4, 04 Oct 1885, Kvås in Lyngdal, Vest-Agder, Norway
Anne Kristiansdatter
Born 12 Jan 1871
Christening 09 Mar 1871
Born: Tjomeland

Wow, that's fantastic! I will look them up. The family tree on ancestry says she was born 11/29/1870. There are other trees with this family, too, but I haven't checked them all yet. This is a new search for me. Also her obituary and gravestone say 1870-1931, so I don't really know. I will have to look up the birth record on Digitalarkivet.

You look it up by clicking the link...
"Ann S Fraas" born 1871 arrived New York on the "City of Chicago", June 15th, 1889. Maybe "S Fraas" is mixed up with her hometown, "Kvaas S.", ie. Kvaas Sogn (parish)?
There are other people from Kvås leaving Kristiansand on the same date as Anne on the "City of Chicago".

J wiborg: I do believe you have the right Anne, being born on Tjomeland and living on Moi. The only discrepancy is the birth year as compared to her obituary but I still believe it is the right one. I have found wrong dates in obituaries before, as the information is given by someone else and is not always accurate.

Yes, thank you. I did click the links and I looked at the records. The ship's logger probably wrote down the name the way he thought it sounded.
