He had a half brother named Edvard Marensius Johansen, born 1871, married in Norway 1896. There is nothing to indicate Edvard being in America.
I have searched both emigration and immigrationrecords. I have bought a month's access to Ancestry for this. Can never be sure of course, it is easy to miss something.
There are 256 men leaving from Oslo with the name Karl Nis*****. Without knowing an emmigration year it is difficult to determine which of these might be a candidate.
Here is another possibility. He seems to be travelling without family. Manifest states that his last residence was Notteroy? Probably Nøtterøy. Going to Chicago IL. Name given maybe brother in law Anders Anderson. Maybe travelling with a Hans Thorsen Thorvald who is also going to Chicago IL to his son Thorvald Thorsen. He is also from Nøtterøy.
