Seeking help please with above. In 1910 Norwegian census Edith (b 24/12/1900) and Ervin (b 4/12/1903) both born Kristiania are listed as children of Carl Johan Emanuel Arnesen & Barbra Gunhild Jorgensen. Family residing at Akersbakken 30, Kristiania.
I also found on Gravminner death records for Edith Wencke Waaroe (death 24/4/1980) and Karl Kristian Waaroe (death 16/12/1979) both buried Var Freslers gravlund, Oslo.
Ancestry also has passenger lists for a Wencke Waaroe and Karl Waaroe (various spellings) into New York, San Francisco and Boston at various times, although I cannot access full details.
Help please in finding a marriage which would confirm link of Edith Wencke Arnesen to Karl Kristian Waaroe.
Also to find any other details of Edith's brother Ervin Reidar of whom I can find no further trace. |

When Edith Wencke was born, the family were living in Bjergstien 8, see #7. Her father was then a gardener.
When Reidar Erwin was born they were living at Brageveien 1, see #189.

There were a number of different church congregations in Oslo. Which ones have you already checked in the available parish records for marriages, engagements, reading of the banns? What years were already checked? |

I think I found them.
I searched unsuccessfully in Garnisonmenigheten; Fageborg; Frogner; and Oslo Domkirchen Var Fresner
The baptisms kindly supplied by Eibache are in Gamle Aker. Sure enough, I found them under Karl Kristian Olsen Waaro and Edith Wencke Arnesen, record #44 on Page 95 of the 1920/1928 series for this parish. I guess the two dates of 9th June and 13th June 1927 refer to the reading of banns ?? But no firm date for the wedding itself - how do I find this ??
Can anyone clarify meaning of Waaro ??
And did not find any reference to Reidar in any of these records. |

Another record shows the wedding to have taken place July 7. See #44. Here is also additional info of possible interest.

The baptismal record for Karl Kristian Olsen is #12. His parents were living on Vaarø, and it is noted that he was allowed to use Waarøe as a family name in Nov 1927. His father was a farmer and pilot. Karl, his parents and siblings in 1900.

Eibache, can you please clarify where is Vaaro. I found a place in Southern Denmark on google.

Eibach, thanks for this. I can understand their birth, baptism and confirmation dates. But what does "vacc" mean ??
I understood Karl is a "strymand" - = ships mate ??? And on a specific vessel ??
What is Edith's job please - shop assistant ?? |

Waarø = Våre on maps of today. - an island east of Lindesnes peninsula, the southernmost point of Norway. I live in Korshavn, west of Lindesnes. Last summer we did a boat trip with our small boat (14 feet) through the Spangereid channel and out to Våre, Very nice!
Vacc means vaccination (smallpox, I think). Styrmann = chief mate, kontordame = clerical worker, typist |
