Looking for information on Ole Jeljet Amlee married to Anna Gaarum... Would have been late 1700's to early 1800's near Hedmarken. Children were Gilbert, Martha, Ellert, Halvor, Borrie, and Even. Gilbert was my Great-Great-Great Grandfather.

Don't you have any more definite dates for any of these persons? Where were names like Jeljet, Amlee and Gaarum found? If any of their children were born in Norway perhaps details about one or more of them might help find the right area.

I believe Gaarum is Ringsaker parish, Hedmark county.

Amlee?
Amlien in Vestre-Toten, Oppland county?

Jeljet?
Jelet in Vċgċ parish, Oppland county?

Amlee? Ċmli, a parish in Vest-Agder county?

Gilbert's kids went by the last name Amlee when they came to the states. Indication his first name might have been Garum or Gubran... He was Ole's son. All I have is handwritten stories passed down. Trying to piece together, I think I may have his birth and death dates. His daughter was Agnetta or Agnethe ... She went by Agnetta or Nettie.

Find the children of "Gilbert" in the US censuses. Those enumerations should give you at least good estimates of their birth years and years they immigrated to the US.

Gilbert was a name sometimes taken by Norwegian emigrants with original names like Gulbrand.

We cannot know that anyone we offer has actually anything to do with the family you are looking for because you don't have enough information for any identification.

But I throw this out there anyway.

Einer, I think that is right. Took another look at my hand written notes. The sibling names look right. My notes said he grew up near a place called Nes Begde and the farm was called Rolighet... It also said he was in the army and was a guard at Norways last beheading. His siblings listed in my notes were Martha, Ellert, Halvor, Borrie, Even. It said that he died young and his wife and some of their kids then moved to America. It also had something about when he got sick they moved to a farm called Under Amlee but I didn't have the Norwegian name. Thanks for the help!

Roligheten is a very unusual name on a farm, means Calmness.
Roligheten is located to Ċrnes in Nes municipality.
Photo taken 1955 of Roligheten

Nes Begde is most likely Nes Bygda (Nes rural district)

There is a Nels G Amlee/Amlie (born 1862 in Norway) who lived in Jackson Co. Wisconsin. (Source - 1905, 1910, 1930 censuses) and earlier in Trempealeau Co. WI (Source - 1900 US census).
Also an Ole Amlee (born between 1859 and 1862 in Norway) who lived in Minnesota for various federal and state censuses.

Names and vital identifying dates of the members of the family that actually emigrated would be vital to this search.

Your "Gilbert" was actually Gulbrand Olsen and in 1865 he lives with his wife Lisbeth Nielsdatter (you have a separate query here concerning her and her parents Niels Pedersen and Karen Larsdatter).
As a widow Lisbeth/Elizabeth left Norway in 1880 stating their destination as Black River Falls. She left with son Nils, daughter Agnette and two very young children Gustav and Karen.

I gave you a link to the family in the 1865 census above.

I show Gilbert marrying Lisabeth Bukkalrude in 1857... Children are Agnetta, Ole, Nels, Gustav, and Karen. All settled in Jackson County Wisconsin with Lisabeths brother Nikolai Nelson. Agnetta was born in 1859, Ole in 1861, Nels in 1862, and Karen and Gustav were twins born in 1877. I have their history forward in the states.

"Bukkalrude" is a farm name as was shown in the link provided in response to your other posting concerning her. It was not a 'surname' in Norway at that time -- but an additional identifier to show where someone lived or had history. It was occasionally used as the only identifier after the given name.
Lisbeth/Elizabeth Nielsdatter was born in April (13th I seem to recall) of 1837 in Ringsaker or Nes, Hedmark and her parents were Niels Pedersen and Karen Larsdatter.and she died in 1904 in the US.

It is the same family because all of them have been accounted for.

Online study material to learn about Norwegian naming practices and patterns.
