Can some one give me a brief translation for what is written in Date of Baptism for Tørris Torbjørnsen Skarveland- #91 ? Also, what is written after the parents names in column 5, and what is written in column 9 about Kari Baptising him at home?
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=11666&idx_id=11666&uid=ny&idx_side=-52
Unfortunately, the little baby"s father Torbjørn died 5 months later in February, The were only married 15 months. Thanks.

the child died before the christening.
död för Daa bsConfir mation i kir ken
basically; "dead before the christening in church"
The note in column 5 says bachelor Torbjørn Torbjørnsen Skarveland and girl Kari Tørrisdatter Skarveland, which indicate an illegitimate child. But it also says the child is legitimate born, it says the parents are married..., did they marry just before the birth of Tørris?
The note in 9 says Christened at home by Britha Knutsdatter Skarveland.

You make think this is silly, but I have seen it written so many different ways. --would the name properly be Tørbjorn-(J), Torbjørn-(J) or Torbiøn-with an i ?? |

Todays correct spelling would be Torbjørn.
The spelling in those days were more up to the priest to decide...

I think the note after the parents name in 5 says this: (ikke qvalificered leiermaal Da Foreldrene ????? ægtede ?????, er Barnet ansæt for ægte.)
English: "Not a qualified "leiermaal", since the parents are married. The child is considered legitimate."
leiermaal: sexual intercourse between people who are not married.

I read: (ikke qvalificeret leiermaal. Da Forældrene sener ægtede hinanden, er Barnet ansæt for ægte.) - (Not a qualified "leiermaal". Since the parents later married each other the child is considered as legitimate.)

It all makes sense now. I mistakenly was thinking the marriage was Nov 1 1835, thinking that the baby was born 10 months later, so why was it Ungkarl and Pige... but it was Nov 1 1836 and the baby was born Sep 9 1836. So, it was truly illegitimate. It shows that it was recorded after November. It is funny that the priest would consider it legitimate now because they married after. These fun stories are what make genealogy so interesting!
Thank you for the great translations.
