Looking to find birth records for Axel Fredrik Holter and his wife Dagmar Holst. where should I look for their baptism records or marriage records? According to the census they were both born in Christiana but how do I narrow it down?

thank you for your help.

The scanned church records for Oslo.

Perhaps start with Oslo Domkirke (Oslo Cathedral)

Good luck.

Here is Dagmar with her parents in 1875:

http://digitalarkivet.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f70301&personpostnr=38968&merk=38968

Use some of the more general search engines such as search in all database, or search at familysearch.org

Soldiers can be stationed most any where there is a base.

I am confused on the last name - why do the children have Holst for a last name?

Here is the only Axel Fredrik b 1869 I found in the 1875 census of Oslo (using search in all database):

http://digitalarkivet.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f70301&personpostnr=6427&merk=6427

There are a lot of siblings in this family. By searching for the siblings in the Norway Baptisms you might the right place for Axel.

Peder found the Axel Fredrik family from the 1865 census but the Axel in that family was born on a different date than yours--not likely to be yours.
