Hi,
I'm looking for Johan Magnus Bjelke, born i Norway 12. February 1887.
He emigrated with Bergensfjord to Halifax 7. December 1926:

The only trace I can find that perhaps is of him, is this death certificate:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JFTF-YM2

Could I please get some help to solve this old family mystery?

The children never got any letters from their father, as we know of. He had divorced his wife, so perhaps he wanted to cut all contact, the family history does not tell.

He might have changed his name from Johan to John, and his family name could also be Johansen/Johnson, like his father, or Anderson from his fathers Christian name.

Yours,
Torill Enge

His death certificate lists his employer as Hawk Lake Lumber Company, Monteith, Ontario. His cause of death is listed as pneumonia, age is 40 and he is listed as married. Ancestry is listed as Norwegian, Length of residence in Ontario is 12 days.

If this is your man, perhaps the lack of letters has to do with the fact that he was only alive for 14 days in Canada.

Name: Johan Bjelki
Death Date: 30 Dec 1926
Death County or District: Cochrane
Age: 40
Gender: Male
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1886
Birth Location: Norway

Hi,
I'm very thankful for your help! The mystery is solved!
I'm quite certain this is my man!
He has listed his mother in law as his nearest relative, so I suppose the "f" on his emigrant informations at Bergensfjord stands for "fraskilt" - divorced.
But what a sad way for Johan to end his life. Can you see from the death certificate where he was buried, which cemetery, and is it possible for you to send me a copy of this page?
