Anders and Ragnilde are my Great-Great Grandparents and I would like to find out when and how they came to America. They are from the Austervold area of Norway and they would have immigrated sometime between 1873 and 1881. They went to Minnesota. USA. Two of their children Anders Anderson, Thomas Brakke came to America in 1873 on the Valkyrian.

No years of birth for either of them? You enjoy making it much much more difficult??

The 1865 census shows them living in Fitjar, Hordaland, Norway on a farm then called "Brękke".

The closest port of departure would have been Bergen. Emigrant indexes are available for Bergen years 1874-1930 at the Digitalarkivet website. Happy hunting!

Thank you all for the quick response. I'm pretty sure they traveled to Yellow Medicine County Minnesota, so will search the census reports for 1875 and 1880 for them. Family records show they died, Anders in 1882 and Ragnhild in 1883. Again Thank You. Wanda
