I am looking for information on Clara Berg from Norway. Don't know where in Norway. I believe she was born 11 Jun 1861 to Berren Berg and Isabelle. She has a brother Andrew born in 1853 and another brother Peter(no date). The census reports in the U.S. have given me 3 different dates she came to American. 1872, 1880 and 1881. She came to the LaCrosse are in Wisconsin and then moved to Barron, Wisconsin. She married John A. Anderson in 1884. I hope someone can point me in the right direction. |

A couple of observations, it's easier to find a family than to find an individual. So in the 1865 Norwegian census transcription online it should be fairly easy to find a family containing both a Clara b 1861 and an Andrew b 1853. Her or their patronymic might be Berntsdtr or something similar.
At familysearch.org there are databases of Wisconsin vital records to check for Clara's children either births or marriages of them in which you are looking for variations of Clara's name. Berg is a very common surname for Norwegian-Americans which may or maynot translate to Norwegian usages.
If you have links to Clara in the various censuses it might be helpful to post them.
Is this the brother Andrew Berg?

Clara's parents, Børre Evensen and Ingeborg Pedersdatter, were married Nov 18 1848, see #18. Børre Evensen was born Dec 7 1825, see #5 - his parents were Even Olsen and Aase Larsdatter, Larum-eie. Ingeborg was born Nov 14 1822, see #62 - her parents were Peder Jensen and Karen Olsdatter.

A fire at Biri rectory in 1890 destroyed the churchbooks for 1789-1814 and 1854-1877 for Biri (incl Snertingdal). Thus; the christening record of Clara Børresen Berg in 1861 seems to be lost.
Here is her vaccination transcript from 1862: Vaccinated 26 Nov 1862: Klara Børresdatter Bergseie Age: 1 Year Born: Bergseie Father: Børre Evensen Bergseie Vaccinator: Grethe Nilsen
Brother Andreas Børresen born 13 Feb 1853

The 1865 Clara would have been confirmed in US and it might be interesting to see that record as sometimes a US pastor makes a point of recording baptismal information in a confirmation record. Nice to see a use of Berg in Norway before a US usage. |

Although no christening record seems available, there is no doubt this is the correct family. Here is her brother Peter's christening record:
Peder Børresen Born: 13 Sep 1850 Christening: 29 Sep 1850, Biri, Oppland, Norway Parents: Børre Evensen & Ingeborg Pedersdr Original record
