I am in search of my grandmothers aunt. She left Bergen on May 15 1885. I can find nothing else about her after that point. At that time my grandmothers dad and uncle were living in Seely township in Faribault county Minnesota. These would be her brothers. Her name was Synneve Johnsdatter Hjelle.
I am also looking for information about my grandfather. His name was Einar Eriksen (Erickson). He was born in Oslo Norway in 1879. I believe he left Norway in 1902. The only one who fits the bill left Oslo in 1903 however. He appears in the 1910 census for Grand Forks North Dakota. He is named Aleck Erickson there. My dad remebers him being referred to as Einar sometimes and Aleck sometimes. It also says in there that he was natualized in 1902. I can't make anyone else fit from the digital archives of Norway. The smaller communities seemed to have a village book or possibly Church records. Is there any such documentation available for Oslo? If anyone has any information at all or even suggestions I would glad to listen.

Hi In the Minnesota death certificate search http://people.mnhs.org/dci/Search.cfm there are 2 possibilites
OLESON, SYNNEVE died 11/29/1917 and BERGSATHER, SYNEVE 07/07/1923 you can order copies online and these should have her parents and birthdate which could confirm or rule them out.

Synneve Johnsdatr Hjelle (age 33) born 1852, farmer's daughter from Stryn, Sogn og fjordane County. She could also be using the name Johnson, or her husband's last name if she married.
