I am trying to fill a 21-year gap in records of my grandmother's life in Norway, and would appreciate any suggestions.

She was born in Dec 1871, baptised Andrine Christiane Johnsdatter, grew up on the family farm at Moksvold, Hordaland. She was confirmed March 1886 at the Lygra church, Lindaas parish. The next record I find is her marriage to my grandfather Hans O. Fosse at the Nykirken in Bergen, September 1907. Soon thereafter they emigrated to the USA. At age 35 this was her first marriage, per the record.

I have searched for her in 1891 and 1900 censuses in Digitalarkivet, using different versions/combinations of her name and birth year. I find no record of her in Bergen, Hordaland, or nationwide. There was no recollection, in our family, that she had traveled out of Norway before her marriage.

Any suggestions as to where I might next look?

She moved out of Lindås 1907, see last record in 1907.

Andrina Kristina was born Dec 12 1871 and bapticed Dec 31 in Alversund church, see #68. Her parents John Kristiansen and Synneva Larsdatter, Søndre Aase.
Her parents were married July 3 1870, see #31.

Andrine was living with her grandparents at the Aase farm in 1875.

Andrines confirmation record in Lygra, Alversund is #9 in Oct 3 1886.

Her parents were living on Møksvold nedre in 1900.

Einar you have documented the issue: Andrine is missing from records between her 15th year and 35th year. You will also find her family on the Moksvold farm in the 1891 census...but she is not there.

Many young folks from that area -- including 3 of my grandmother's sisters, and my grandfather -- moved from the farm to the city of Bergen for employment. My grandmother apparently did not.

I suspect I am missing something obvious in searching these records, but what?

You mentioned other name spellings. You mostly have used Moksvold but from some of the records seen you could use Møksvold. Ø and O are 2 different letters in Norwegian alphabet and Norwegian search engines don't alway lump together the 2 letters. She also had a middle name and depending on the person they might individually prefer the middle to the first given at various stages in life. Census takers in Norway are like census takers in the rest of the world--unique spellers.
