Searching for information about my wifes grandfather Nils Olsen Lillebakken from Rindal in Norway. He was born Sept. 28th 1878 and emigrated in 1910 to America, leaving wife and 3 year daughter behind. We have found that he on Nov. 1st 1913 crossed the Canadian/US boarder into USA for the first time to visit a friend in Spokane Wash. Also that he registered in sept. 1918 for military service with the Local Board for the County of Marshall, Iowa. His employer's name was then Jno. Jacobson of Marshalltown and his adress was Lodging Hotel 102? Minneapolis, Mn. After this he disappeared and as far as we know, never returned to Norway.
Any information about him or his two brothers, Erlend O. Lillebakken Negaard b. jan. 6th 1872 and Lars O. Lillebakken b. jan. 26th 1877, will be highly appreciated.
Regards
Stefan Neumayer

Not much help here. Lars Olson Lillebakken arrived 18 May 1903 at Ellis Island in New York on Hellig Olav His destination was given as friend "Ole M. Grosetteen" at "Empire, Minnesota"

Empire Minnesota may be in Dakota County.

What name was Nils under in the WWI draft registration cards?

When Nils left he was probably accompanied by John Johnson Storholdt b 1883. They each had the same destination of Cedor (Cedar?) British Columbia.

Appears to be your Nils in 1910 census, birthdate 1 day off 28 Sept 1878:

Wow you've been after these guys for a long time--earliest post I see dates 1997. Erlend did go to Chile, South America?

Hello Folks!
Thank you all for answering my note. Here are some comments:
jkmarler: nils was drafted under his real name Nils Olsen Lillibakken (with an i). And yes, he travelled together with Jon J. Storholt, they were living quite close to eachother in Rindal. Jon J. ended up eventually in Snohomish Wash. where his aunt and uncle had taken? land. The family still live there under the name of Pederslie. I have also seen the date Sept 27th 1878 as his date of birth, but his father writes Sept. 28th 1878 in his memories. Have not checked the church-book yet. Erlend did go to Ancud, Chile, and disappeared. Ole Loe (Ole K. Loe) in Blue earth is his uncle who had a farm in Rapidan Township. He had a great family after him. We have contact with members of this family, even had a visit here, but they can not help us any further.
Kċarto: This Ole is his (their) uncle who visited the old country and was returning to USA. See above.
JaneC: Thank you but this is already known stuff.
Lyndal40: This was new to me. Would it be possible for you to send me a copy or photo of this record? I am not a member of Ancestry.com

Thank you all.
