Wisconsin Index of Marriages
MARRIAGE RECORD
03 April 1893
Dunn County, Wisconsin
Ole Wallum
Lin Thoresen
[Would be interesting to have the original marriage certificate! it might tell Ole's parents. Also, "Lin" might be "Liv." Can be ordered.]

So much good information - even on Immigration and marrige. It will take awhile to digest it all. I will be gone a few days but will reply next week. Will order the marriage cert.

Kåre- Interesting that there were 2 couples with the same names - Thore and Rønnaug - and that you remembered researching them earlier. Maybe some from that Torgerson thread also ended up in Dunn County Wis where Børre Thoresen lived. Good to have the links for the churches. Were earlier Skjåk records in with the Lom church books?

On the Family Search tree, it shows Rønnaug Iversdatter born 1794, but bap. 15 Dec 1793, parents Iver Olsen Lund and Anne Kristiansdtr Dagsgard of Vigstad. In other thread you posted - Rønnaug bap. Oct. 9. 1796 parents Iver Hansen and Mari Rasmusdatter.
You said there were 3 girls named Rønnaug Iversdatter so it is difficult.

You are right.
Skjåk, a former sub parish under Lom was separated from Lom Dec. 13. 1863.
That is why earlier Skjåk records are in the church records for Lom often marked with an S or Skiagaer (an older name for Skjåk)

Not common that two couples in the same parish with the same name married almost at the same time, and I jumped into the same trap again before a bell rang.

Seems like you have "cousins" in the US via the Torgerson family.

Take your time to sort out the records, you are welcome back to this forum at any time.

This could be a possibility:
#77, Ole Andreas Pedersen
Born: 03 Sep 1859
Christening: 30 Oct 1859, Malvik in Strinda, Sør-Trøndelag, Norway
Parents: Peder Andersen Vollumstrø & Berith Thronsdr
Source: Sør-Trøndelag county, Malvik in Strinda, Parish register (official) nr. 616A03 (1843-1879), Birth and baptism records 1859, page 45.

3. sep could possibly look like 8. dec/des with poor/indistinct handwriting. Wonder what the source for the tombstone was? Possibly his bible or something..

Census-1865 for Vullumsmark, Malvik in Strinda, Sør-Trøndelag

Emigration on 04 May 1881
Ole A. Peders. (21) from Strinden, destination Mabel Minn. Ticket paid in America.

Location of Vulutrøa (modern spelling) farm in Sør Trøndelag:

Wis.Marriage Cert 1893 arrived for Ole Wollum - Liv Thoresen. Ole's parents= Ingebret Wallum, mother first name hard to make out but looks like Cari or Gari Olsen. Thanks JaneC.
1865 census Sognedalen Støren on Gard Wollaeggen = Ingebrigt Evens. 37, wife Guri Olsd., Ole age 7.
Birth Soknedal 1848-1872. Birth 8 Dec 1859 =Ole, parents Ingebrigt Evensen, Guri? Olsd Vollum
Looks like this is the correct guy. Thanks to all for help.

Questions - 1. 1875 census Soknedal Bustad nr 33 Vollumseggen shows Ole Ing born 1859, but father is Ingebrigt Ingebrigtsen (1865 census= Evens,). Could this be the same family - with error in father's last name?
2. Emigranter fra Trondheim 1867-1930, can anyone spot a likely candidate for Ole Ing. Wollum in 1870s or 80s.
3. Bygdebok available for this area?

Bravo for finding the parents to Ole Vollum!

You may have the information on the families in America. Lena's little sister Guro Thoresen who married James Onarheim (his second wife) lived in Eau Claire, Eau Claire, Wisconsin. (Ancestry.com records and findagrave)

Good find! Would it be all right if I post the information here? (in a way it organizes the findings of the forum)

Ole Ingebrigtsen Vollum b. 1859 ST, Soknedal
FATHER: Ingebrigt Evensen Vollum b. 1829, ST, Soknedal, d. 1906, ST, Støren
MOTHER: Guri Olsd Vollaeggen b. 1825, ST, Soknedal, d. 1875, ST, Støren
BROTHER: Even Ingebrigtsen Vollum b. 19 Jan 1858 ST, Soknedal, d 1902 ST, Støren
BROTHER: John Ingebrigtsen Vollum f. 1863 ST, Soknedal, d unknown

Ingebrigt Evensen Vollum is already a widower in the 1875 census, living with sons Ole and John, so Ole left home after her death and likely before the US census 1880.

This could be Even in 1875:http://www.rhd.uit.no/folketellinger/ftliste_e.aspx?ft=1875&knr=1649&kenr=004&bnr=0039&lnr=00

Thanks Jan Peter for the good link! Thanks to Einar for confirming the 1875 family! And thanks to JaneC for good summary and tip about Onarheims! I think you are right about Even 1875 as Hemnslekt shows he married Kari Nilsdtr.-maybe the one listed on the same farm. There is an Ole Vollum is listed as sawmill worker in 1880 Menomonie, but age is a little off (should be 21, not 25). But several names are listed with him from the same parish of Norway, so perhaps it is the right guy. I will make a trip over to Dunn Co. soon.

Need help reading Soknedal records -
Marriage for Ingebrigt & Guri -17 June 1857 (pg.145). Farm name for Ingebrigt ? Father's names- Even Jensen and Ole Evensen?

Birth for Ingebrigt Evensen - 1829 #15 (pg 49). Father looks like Even Jensen, but what is mother's name?

Corrrection - Looks like Even Ingebrigtsen Vollum & Kari Nilsdatter were not married, but in 1889 they had a child together Nils Evensen Hugaas, according to Hemneslekt.

Still would like some help on reading Soknedal church books for Ingebrigt Evensen- birth 1829, and marriage to Guri 1857.
Thanks much, Kay

Ingebrigt Evensen born Aug 10 1829 and baptized Aug 16. My best choice for the parents is Even Jensen and Marit Jonsdatter, Anshuus.

Ingebrigt Evensen, Anshuus and Guri Olsdatter, Vollum were married June 17 1857. Ingebrigt was 28 years old and his father was Even Jensen. Guri was 30 years and her father was Ole Einersen.

Gurri Olsdatter was born Jan 8 1826, see #2. Her parents were Ole Einersen and Lisbet Arentsdatter, Vollum.

Ole Einersen, his parents and siblings in 1801.

Regarding Ingebrigt Evensen born Aug 1829 Soknedal I checked the Copy of Parish register and was surprised to find much clearer handwriting.
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=2438&idx_id=2438&uid=ny&idx_side=-40
Shows mother as Marit Jonsdtr. (rather than Randi Jensdtr. which it looked like on Official Register).

Marriage 2 May 1826 for Even Jensen Nyhus 29 & Marit Jonsd. 40
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=2438&idx_id=2438&uid=ny&idx_side=-208
Since Marit was age 40, does the record show that she might have been a widow?
Found 3 children for them - Kari- 27 Dec 1827, my Ingebrigt 1829, Martin- 28 July 1832. Death found same day for a Marit Jonsd.age 47. Same lady?

1801 Støren census - for Ingebrigt's father Even Jensen - there are 2 sons with same name on Nyhus. My Even born about 1797 (age 29 at marriage in 1826).
http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/en-gb/ft/person/pf01058446001535
Is this the correct family?

Takes me some time to digest everything and follow all your great tips. Thanks to all the amazing people who volunteer their time and skills! And thanks Jan Peter - I have tried to put in the correct links.

The url you pasted directly from www.arkivverket.no will only last for 30 minutes. To paste an url from the Norwegian churchbooks you need to 1) select Image information: "On top", and 2) copy/paste the Permanent pagelink.

The Copy of Parish register was written by the Sexton (church official) and not the Priest (who wrote the Official Register).
