Good finds! The family tree lists all the same information for Johan Pettersen Hegge as the forum found for Johan Anton Pettersen Hegge.

The November 1920 passenger manifest for John Anton Hegge says he's traveling to Maddock, Benson, North Dakota. Family tree says Ethel Emelia Johnson was born 1900 in Maddock, Benson, North Dakota. In the 1925 North Dakota state census, John P. Hegge was living in Edmond, Benson, North Dakota, where the family tree Johan married Ethel. And yes the USA death record for John says he died 1973 South Dakota.

The switch from "Johan Anton" to John "P" explains why a descendant might not find John's birth record or passenger manifest. This is somebody's family history. Mark will tell us if it is his own.

A curiosity: John's brother Anton died in Canada (per the family tree). But the tree also says Anton was born in 1907 in the USA! Can this be correct?

Johan's mother Oline apparently had siblings who came to the USA;

Didn't mean to repeat you lyndal40 - was writing while you posted.

See more about the family of Anton Pettersen Hegge here in a biography of Evelyn Agnes Johnson (m. Anton Hegge) (m. Jim Mullen):

Here is a very brief mention of the farm Anton Hegge took over:

No Anton was born in Norway, see #17.

http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=6083&idx_id=6083&uid=ny&idx_side=-103

The birth record matches the data from the 1910 census, June 3, 1907.

Thanks. Okay, so Anton's place of birth is just a mistake on the family tree.

Obituary for Robert Olaf Hegge born 29 Dec 1927 and, sadly, died 19 April 2013 mentions family members that suggest the forum has likely found the correct connections for the Original Poster.

Wow! This is great to see such a good response to my grandfather and his journey to America.
Yes, Johan Pettersen Hegge is my Grandfather. I know him as John Peter Hegge. He was from Hundorp, Guldbrandsalen and died 1973 in Summit South Dakota at age 70.
Any chance there is a list of other passengers on his ship and where they lived?
