I found a site on My Heritage that has info on my gg grandfather John Narvesen b. Dec. 28 1815 from Sandsvaer, Buskerud, Norway. He was Married to Aslaug Olsdatter b. Oct 15 1826. The site is Sandsvaer Familys The info comes from a Bygdebook, on the My Heritage site. I had most of the info on his site from what family had researched before and what i could figure out from Census and Parish Data. I had never heard of Bydebooks before and wonder what is actually says. Also I have Narves parents listed as Narve Truelsen b. abt 1775 Baptized April 8 1775. His mother as Rønnoug Olsdatter. the 1801 Census if its the same person has her listed as Rønnev Anbiørnsdatter. I would like to find more about them their marriage date and children. Aslaug parents I have as Ole Ingebretson b. abt.1795 and Marthe Arnesdatter b.abt 1791 think they might be from Kongsberg. Aslaug and most of their children Immigrated to the United States My g grandfather was Tinius Johnson b. Jan.15 1864 he Immigrated in 1882 first to Massachusetts then New Sweden Aroostook county Maine, USA. If anyone wants info on the other Children of John and Aslaug. I can help. Would love help with the older generation since I cant read Norwegian . Thanks Kim |

"Bygdebok" litterally means "Township-book", and is a farm history book for the township, written by local historians. They are normally based in local church records and censuses.

Narve Trulsen from farm Finnemyr, his wife Rønnaug is recorded as both Ambrosiusdatter and Olsdatter b. ca 1770. She died on Finnemyr as Rønnev Ambrosiusdatter age 85 April 28. 1855, see #26 Ambrosius was a very rare name in Sandsvær, perhaps she came from another parish (in Telemark?)
Narve and Rønnaugs Children; - Jon 1804-1807 - Jon 1815 - Anders 1819- died March 24. 1836 when he served on farm Knudsmyr.

You are right, I missed that.
Narves occ: "Kongelig vedhugger" Royal woodcutter. He was a woodcuter for the Silver mines in Kongsberg owned by the king.

I belive Ole Narvesen was born on farm Kobbervoldene ca 1812 d. 1883, married to Sigrid Bentsdatter b. ca 1798 d. 1883. They lived on Finnemyr 1835 and on Lillevoldene as cottagers ca 1838, lived on farm Kullhusdalen 1862-65. Children; Narve 1835, Ole 1840 (two more died young). All these farms are located to Medheien, todays Meheie, a small population centre between Kongsberg town and Notodden town in Telemark.

So is he John Narvesons brother that is what I had assumed. The family really seems to scatter after Johns death. My g grandfather Tinius Johnson is living with a Thore Pedersen and a Sofie Haldorsdatter in 1875. Dont know if they are related at all. |

Good question. Seems likely. We have to find Oles bap. record.
Narve Trulsen was the only Narve in Sandsvær in the 1801 census.
