Einer - in a previous post you said that Jakobs name is really Jakob Pedersen Kjendalen. Not Jacob Olsen Kjendalen. What would the reason for the difference be? Was there just an error made in the records? |

Jane - Went to the Norwegian American Genealogical Center and Naeseth Library yesterday. Found Jacobs membership in the Scandinavian Lutheran Church and also found his death record in the church books. Also found information about Jacobs first marriage, second marriage and children from both. However, it is in Norwegian and it will take me awhile to figure out what it all says. I consider my trip a success. And now feel that what I have in the family tree is correct now that I know where he died. Thanks again to you and everyone else who has contributed to this effort. I have a lot of info and stories to get written into the family tree. |

Yay! Good work Sandra - you've accomplished much that no online forum ever could.
About this note: "Einer - in a previous post you said that Jakobs name is really Jakob Pedersen Kjendalen. Not Jacob Olsen Kjendalen. What would the reason for the difference be? Was there just an error made in the records?"
Yes, "Olsen" is an error and it should be "Pedersen" on that record of Jakob and family registering to emigrate. The family of about 11 people all match, in names and ages, with Jakob Pedersen Kjendalen family.
eibache wrote this: Jakob Olsen, Kjendalen = Jakob Pedersen,
to show Olsen is written there, but should be stricken out, and the correct name should be Pedersen. |

That is what I thought. And when I went to Madison to the center that's what they said also. It was very gratifying to find the proof. Now I can continue with the family tree in good conscience that what I have in the tree is correct. It is exciting to find that a relative was so much a part of the history of the Scandinavia, WI area. Thanks for all the help. |
