Outside the +/- 5 years rule, here is an Andrew Goodmanson b. abt 1852 Norway, a captain in the 1880 census at San Francisco, California:

He may be the same as Andrew Bennet Gudmunsen b. 1852 Norway found in the California great registers database as being at 722 Grove in San Francison on 19 July 1876.
Here is the confirmation #30 of a possible for Andrew Bennet Gudmundsen named Andreas Bertin Gudmundson b. 8 Feb 1851 :

Not a good match to your Andrew b. 1858 in Arendal, but he followed the same occupation as yours, captain, with a strong reason to have a "G" and seems to disappear from California records at about the same time as your Andrew begins showing up. |

| Sorry - I meant to say George Oliver Johnson was my grandfather. My father was George Edward Johnson born oct 1915 in San Francisco'. |
