Hello.
I am beginning to attempt a family tree. My father's grandfather (Ole Andreas Antonsen Skaanes) was born March 27,1877, emigrated to the US in 1904 and died in 1970.
I know that his father was Anton Olsen Skaanes and mother was Karen Anna Johansdatter.

If you have any information surrounding this family lineage, please post a message.

Thank you.

Hi
Here is the record of his emigration on the digitalarkivet
http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=arkivverket/EMITROND&variabel=0&postnr=112423&fulle=true&spraak=e

It indicates that he came from Levanger in Nord Trondelag
This is probably Ole and his family on the 1900 census for #1720 Levanger, Nord Trondelag. The note under merknard for Ole rough translation "Date corrected from 1878 to 1898 with pencil" I'm guessing it is 1878 since Karen would have been 51 at his birth which is pretty old for having a child and the birth year being 1 off isn't unusual in the census. They are living on the Skaanesvald gard (farm) which is where the name Skaanes comes from.

Going on the presumption that this is the correct family this probably would be Ole's great grandparents and his grandfathers family in 1865

This is pretty much best guess with the information you have but it seems to fit. Hopefully you can find more information to confirm it. The LDS http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/default.asp has lots of microfilm of parish records which could help in your search.
Good Luck Carla
