Well, well. Here is a death notice for Erik Lonning published in Norway in 1920:

Apparently, Erik Lonning joined the US Military in August of 1918. Here he is reported sick in B.H. (base hospital?):

There was an Erick Lonning b 1896 who served in the US military so not the target.
