Need help to find the Social Security death index about my uncle Haakon Johansen.
His last adress: 38 West Park Avn., Long Beach, Nassau, N.Y.
His wife Olivette Johansen ( Dupile) moved after his death to Boynton Beach, Palm Beach,
Florida. She died 5. Apr 1983. I have her Social Security Death index.

Try searching the Ancestry.com database for Social Security deaths only (rather than a general search) and use wildcard * to make up for misspellings. Maybe that will help. |

I wondered about your birth date for Haakon, Harold, but peder has proved Hakkon's birth 29 July 1903 to be correct (thank you peder). Are you seeking Haakon's death date and death place? If you don't know it, then perhaps it's worth ordering the death certificate for the Haakon who died February 1972 (as peder posted)? Doesn't seem likely, though, that an SSDI birth date would be wrong, so that's puzzling.

Hmmm I just plugged in Haakon Johansen at genealogybank.com and found two obituaries for Haakon A Johansen d 1964 and Haakon E. Johansen d. 1969 neither of whom appear in SSDI.
When SSDI first started being available, one of the caveats was that a person must also have received the death benefit or that the benefit had been paid out. It's the $250 you hear about in end-of-life insurance ads. So a person could have gotten a SSN and not necessarily be in the SSDI...

I tried to order the death certificate but they must have a date and month, and that is what I don't have. How can I then order the certiifcate? |

Yes, Peder has right. 29. july 1903 is correct. I have tried to ordet the death certificate for 1972, but they must have correct fate and month, whitch I don' t have. Hoe cqn I then order the certificate? Any suggestions? |
