Seeking marraige documentation. Christian Bergh b. 1832 d. 1873 / Margareth (Margaret) Hottinger b. 1847 d.1922. I believe that Margareth was born in Germany. I appreciate any help you might offer. |

The free databases at FamilySearch.org show a young woman marrying in Erie Co. NY, USA in 1892 who lists her parents as "Margaritae Hottinger" and "Christianii Bergh". The person extracting the information from the original record would have done the best they could at reading the original handwriting - so slight oddities can be expected.
The same databases list a "Margaret Hottinger" living as a child in Erie Co., NY for the 1860 and 1870 US federal censuses. That girl is listed as born in the state of New York.
You have information that the couple you are looking for actually married in Norway? If so, you'll need to make efforts to find WHERE in Norway that happened. There is NOT a nationwide index of such events for the country. |

Not many Hottinger's in Norway.
Annette (Anna) Blumer, born ca 1824, married in 1846 Hans Jacob Hottinger from Switzerland. Hans Jacob Hottinger was a clerk at Valløy saltworks outside Tønsberg, Vestfold. The family travelled ca 1863 back to Switzerland,
Annette's parents: Peter Blumer, industrialist, born ca. 1783 in canton Glarus, Switzerland, d. on Valløy island 1863, 80 y.o. His wife: Anna Marie Becker, born ca. 1795 in canton Glarus, dead in Tønsberg 1871.
Thus; Valløy in Slagen, Vestfold could be a origin for Margaret Hottinger. But maybe they met and married in America. |

So the family the forum found in Buffalo fits the description Mark gave (his Margaret died in 1922). It's reasonable to infer this is the family Mark is referring to. I guess we can't absolutely know who Mark meant until he confirms this, but likely the marriage record jwiborg posted is the one Mark seeks.
