So there is a definite link from Arthur to Cleo and from Cleo to Hilda Lenore.
1920 census has Lenora immigrating one year before her parents and siblings (it lists 1905 for them, 1904 for her).
1905 Minnesota State Census Minnesota Falls, Yellow Medicine county, Minnesota, USA Hans Hockinson 65 Martha M Hockinson 42 Lenora Hockinson 18-6 Margarete Hockinson 14-5 Ruth Hockinson 10-5 Alff Hockinson 7-6 Helmer Hockinson 2-3 all born Norway

I'm curious about this baptismal certificate. Which church is it from? Is it a page copy from a book with many other baptisms visible or a presentation style (one name)? Are the godparents named on the document? |

Arthut was baptized in Cleo's home by a Lutheran minister. Cleo did not make it easy. |

I went to my records and the baptismal certificate is of a generic sort so there is no church affiliation on it. It is a one page certificate. There are large letters in a gothic sort of text that says, " In the name of the Triune God". The minister is possibly A. O Aasen (it is difficult to read). The sponsors sign it; Sister Marie and I can't make out the other name. |

Marcell was the daughter of Jennie Marget Hawkinson-munson. Jennie died in 1918 during the flu epidemic. Marcell was about 2 years old and lived with various family members. She was a cousin to Russell and Arthur. Marcell maried Theodore Huerth Jr in Sioux City. |

JaneC When I opened the emigration record for Hilda, my blood ran cold. I don't think I would have ever found that.
To me, all of you are a blessing. |

Anders O. Aasen was the pastor of Immanuel Congregation in Minneapolis from 1911 through at least 1916. |

Just as a matter of information, I thought I was close to 100% Norwegian but after I took my DNA test I found that 23% is Great Britan, so that must be my unknown grandparent. There was a man's signature on the baptismal record but all I can read is the last half of his surname; (-------worth), which could be British. I need to try to get a new copy. I need to at least have the full name in case it shows up on my DNA match lists. After all the things I have found out about Hilda, nothing is off the table for now. |

That destination was to the farm of Andreas Haagenson, Hilda's uncle. Andreas must have paid for her trip because he also paid for Hans and the family to come to Granite Falls, MN.
I am awed at how much I have learnd about Hilda in the past 24 hours.
Thank you, Thank you. |
