Hello, My great grandmother's name was Letha Hage (Maiden) Married name McKee. I was wondering if anybody knew anything about hages and Ohio. I was also wondering if Hage is truly a Norwegian name, I've seen some conflicting information on its origin but I have also seen many Hages in Immigration records from Norway.
Thanks in advance |

You might share more information with us for a start. Where in Ohio did she live. About what year was she born. What was her husbands first name, etc. |

Many apologies, I'm just now getting a lot of this info. She actually lived in Ravenswood West Virginia but we think she was born in Jackson County West Virginia and her Husbands full name was William Dempsey McKee. Unfortunately I don't know her year of birth |

There is another person named Lettie McKee with a similar profile but who was born in 1880. |

If the person born on Nov 28 1894 is your ancestor, her father was John W Hague born about 1860 in Ohio. His father was Levi Hague born about 1830 in Ohio.
I am not finding a connection to Norway, What makes you think Letha is Norwegian.

My grandmother was a Hage from Norway. Her father also used the name and her grandfather. That particular family had older ties to a farm known as Haga. Her father and grandfather were in the shipping business and had a lot of contacts with foreign business.
I see no relationship to any of Hages you've mentioned above. |

The ancestry of Letha's mother, Nancy Elizabeth Matheny, is included in an indie book titled "Along Pond Creek Road: For Descendants of Alda Buckley Kennedy" by Helen M. Kennedy. The ebook is available for download for $3.03. Nancy's sister Roma Isabelle is buried same cemetery as Nancy (see Find a Grave). |

A well documented family tree on the Hague family follows the family line shown above by Jan Peter. The tree does deal with the origins of John Hague born abt. 1710 as follows.
John Hague was born Abt. 1710 in Holland, and died Abt. 1757 in Chester County, PA.. He married Elizabeth on 1745. The data on John and Elizabeth Hague is hear-say and not documented. It is said that they migrated from Holland to this Country,

Find a Grave Memorial for John Hague is maintained by Michael Hague, who can be contacted through that site. Memorial says John was born 1710 in the Netherlands; died 27 March 1757 in Chester county, Pennsylvania; no sources. Burial Sandy Hill Cemetery in Fayette county, Pennsylvania.
Some - not all - people said to be born in the Netherlands and emigrated to Pennsylvaia during that era were of Huguenot descent, and for them their ancestry would trace back to 1600s France. |
