Sorry JaneC. I don't read the post for Thor's Brother and sister wery well. Anna Halvorsdtr. was first married to Johannes (John) Fausk, they came in 1870 with 2 chidren, Johannes b. 1861 and Brita b. 1868. I think I did find them 1880 living in Berlin Twp, Clinton Co. Iowa, not Johannes, and also in 1870 they lived in Olive Twp. same Co. Anna's first husband most have died some time, she remarried Erick Severeide in Story Co. it was his second marriage too. The only one I am not sure of is te oldst son Johannes. They had 2 more children in US. Halvor ca. 1870 and Hannah b. ca 1875 in Iowa, she married Goodmond Wing ( Gudmund Vinja) b. Etne, Norway.

Johannes Halvardson and wife Anna Knudsdtr. Nes came to Hamilton Co. Iowa in 1870 and lived there rest of their life.
it was also a nephew who came there in 1891, Fred Roe, he later moved to Hamlin Co. S.D.

Sorry, don't angry! Magnar.

Oh, goodness, thank you for all Magnar! No worries! I wondered about the Halvorson Myklebust siblings (to know more about when and where they first lived in the USA) only because maybe that would help us find Thor.

Unfortunately he is not so easy to identify.

You said Thor never was mentioned in letters home to Norway. It's possible then, that he died before his siblings arrived. Just one possibility.

Thank you, See if this mean anything. Thor had some very close next door neighbours who immigrated in 1850 and 1852.

Tree of them took part in the civil war. that was John H. Johnson b. 1827, Hans H. Jonson b. 1840 and George H. Johnson b. 1843. All joined Illinois units.
These tree later settlled in Minnesota, John H. in Swift Co. Mn. the two others in Minneapolis.

Their father Hans Johnson b. 1803 and mother Thrine b. 1806, one daughter b. in Illinois, that was in 1870 census.

Thank you Magnar.

Yes, might help. We could try to locate the first specific location for the Johnsons in the USA, within Illinois perhaps, and look there for Thor. Sometimes identifying a specific place leads to finding a Norwegian Lutheran church there, and church records may tell the story.

Hi, We did not find what happen to Thor Halvorson Myklebust. JaneC, by the site you show me I was able to find the wife of the first one who came to the Kvinnherske settlement in Olive Twp. Clinton Co. Iowa. Thrine Johannesdr. Myklebust, ( Thrine Johnson). I am happy, thank you.
Magnar.
