Thank you all so much for your help with my Ancestor Jonannes. I am the owner of the mom family tree! I got most of my information from the church at Mt Morris and the microfiche in Wautoma, but was sent off track by a genealogist in Madison who convinced me that we were Vollakers rather than Selsengs. I am so grateful for your help in discovering that I was originally correct!

So far it seems Johannes Pedersen (Selsing) was born at Dvergedal farm and baptized in Hafslo parish, Sogn og Fjordane, 06 March 1838: Link
On link below, this is probably the father to Johannes Pedersen Selsing and Lars Pedersen Selsing, died in Norway: Peder Nielsen Selseng died 13 Sep 1860 in Sogndal, died age 45 (born about 1815). Transcription Churchbook #56 Source: Sogn og Fjordane fylke, Sogndal, Ministerialbok nr. A 13 (1859-1877), Døde og begravede 1860, side 229.
If this is correct then obviously the man in Silver Lake, Iowa is a different man.
17 October 1837 marriage (posted by lyndal40) Peder Nielsen Sættre age 20 - father Niels Pedersen Solvers. (?) [Solverstranden] and Marthe Larsdatter Malem age 28 - father Lars Malem. Link
I didn't spend much time with the Ancestry trees earlier. Now I see some have Lewis/Lars listed as a child of Ole and Ragnhild Selsing. To recap, Ole and Ragnhild registered with their parish in April 1844 that they were moving out with the intention of going to America. The children going with them do not include Lars, and besides, he wasn't born yet. The 1850 US census for Ole and Ragnhild includes no child Lars or Lewis or similar. Lars/Lewis census records indicate him being born in Norway after Ole and Ragnhild left Norway and immigrating long after them. Lars's tombstone is inscribed with his 1846 date of birth.
The case is more clear for Lars (that he's not a child of Ole-Ragnhild) than for his brother Johannes, because of the timing of Lars's birth.
1900 US census Mount Morris, Waushara, Wisconsin Lewis P Selsing 52 born January 1848 in Norway; to USA 1863; married 1874 Sarah Selsing 45 Sadie L Selsing 10 Arlan P Selsing 7 George O Selsing 3 Martha S Skinner 22
1910 US census Mount Morris, Waushara, Wisconsin Lewis P Selsing 65 to USA 1860 Sarah Selsing 55 Arlon P Selsing 17 George O Selsing 12
Below, more children for Peder Nielsen (Sættre) (Selsing) and Martha Larsdatter (Maelem) (Dvergedal) - my reading of the script for these farm names could be off.
Ingerid born 11 July 1841: #64
Anders born 05 Sep 1848 #87
This is probably the transcribed birth record of Martha Larsdatter baptized 19 December 1809 in Hafslo, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway Father: Lars Maelem Mother: Ingeri Link She had a twin brother Anders: Link
This could be the transcribed birth of Peder Nilsen christened 19 Oct 1817 in Hafslo Parents Niels Pedersen and Anna Johannesdatter Link
And the marriage of Niels Pedersen Solverstranden and Anna Johannesdatter Sætre 01 May 1820 in Hafslo: Link
The death of Niels Pedersen, Solvornstranden 26 Feb 1849, age 55: Link
I think there is a Walaker/Valaker in Solvorn/Hafslo.
