I am looking for information on the above names. Could you find when they emigrated to the USA and where was their destination. Also, were they married in Norway or in the USA (Minnesota) where their family now lives. Brita Nelsdotter Meland was from Balestrand and born 8/20/1835. Ola (Ole) Ivarson Vikoren was born 3/25/1839 and was from the Vik area. I think that Ola's parents were Ivar Hansson Vikoren and Guri Olasdtr Honsi of Vik. Thank you for any assistance!

If you know their family now lives in Minnesota then why not inquire where the couple is buried and where they lived that they might be found in federal or state censuses.

Information found on American censuses can often be very very helpful.

Also - what is your source for the birth date and location information for each of them?

The baptismal record for Britha Nilsdatter is next to the last one on left page.
Her parents were Nils Rasmussen and Anna Anthonsdatter, Mæland.

Nils Rasmussen, Mæland (b. 1801) and Anna Anthonsdatter, Temingen (b. 1793) were married June 4 1827, see #6.

Bachelor Ole Iversen Vikøren born 29/3-1835 left Vik parish in April 1856, headed for America.
See #116, left page.
Brother John Iversen Vikøyri on the line below, born 27.01.1845.
Their parents are Iver Hansen Vikøren and wife Guro Olsdr.

I find that Ole had the following siblings:
Peder Iversen Vikøren b. 05 SEP 1831
Synneva Iverdr Vikøren b. 14 JUN 1840
Anna Iverdr Vikøren b. 04 APR 1843
John Iversen Vikøren b. 27 JAN 1845
Johannes Iversen Vikøren b. 02 SEP 1847

Possibly not close a relative but;
A woman named Britha Iversdr Vikøyri emigrated in May 1854.
Is she the same one who married Nils Olsson Balholm Vikoren? A son Gert Nilsson lived in Minnesota with 13 children. See their family history here.

Brithe Nilsdr Mæland emigrated in April 1856, born 20 AUG 1835, emigration certificate of 31 MAR 1856.
See record #18 (#6 from bottom), right page.
Since both Brithe and Ole left their parish at the same time (April 1856), chances are that they went on the same emigrant ship from Bergen, headed to New York or possibly Quebec.

Find-A-Grave would indicate they spent the rest of their lives in Faribault County, Minnesota.

Note the FAG record has an incorrect father for Brita, but oddly enough the correct birth date.

Thank you to everyone who has taken time to research this family. Does anyone know if there are ship's passenger lists for that time and if it is possible to find the ship they emigrated to America on.

Ancestry.com has passenger lists including

"New York, Passenger Lists, 1820-1957"

I have searched this list without luck.

If they came through Canda which is very possible and they left in 1856 as Jan Peter found then you have a problem. The immigration list on Ancestry.com does not begin until after their arrival.

"Canadian Passenger Lists, 1865-1935"

Since Ole left Vik April 1856, you can narrow the possibilities by studying departures soon after that time:

The leprosy thread has a reply.

I would assume they sailed on one of the following ships, arriving Quebec in June or July of 1856.

On May 5th & 6th; 4 ships cleared out from Bergen with a total of 781 passengers of whom 31 children under 1 year.
The ships were Bark Apollo and Columbus of Sandefjord and Brig Vikingen and Jørgen Brunchorst from Bergen.

The 1870 US Census is a little messy, but my best guess is that they are living in Fillmore County, Minnesota with four children, all born in Minnesota. Wife is called Anna in this instance. One child is named Emanuel age 3. Ole's birth year is off.

Ole Iverson in the 1870 United States Federal Census
Name: Ole Iverson
Age in 1870: 39
Birth Year: abt 1831
Birthplace: Norway
Home in 1870: Rushford, Fillmore, Minnesota

Census data for Emmanuel Iverson
Age in 1870: 3, born Minnesota

I think the family in Rushford is a different Ole Iverson....looking at the whole Rushford family on the original handwritten 1870, they match the following family well. Nice finds overall!

1880
Rushford, Fillmore, Minnesota
Ole Iverson 49
Annie Iverson 49
Iver Iverson 17
Annie Iverson 14
Nels P. Iverson 11
Emanuel Iverson 7
Martin F. Iverson 4
Iver Gilbertson 77
