I would have to say that you are correct, Jane, I based much of the acceptance of 1870 Census on Emanuel, but you have found him in the 1880 Census in Filmore as well. Good job. I have yet to find Ole and his wife in the 1870 Census, but I did find them in the 1875 Minnesota State Census, already living in Fairbault County.

Birth Location: Norvay

Well Jane you really made me work at it, but I think that the family is transcribed under the last name of James, but as maybe expected found in Emerald, Faribault County, Minnesota.

Ole James in the 1870 United States Federal Census, his age of 35 was misread as 55 and his last name of Iverson was misread by the transcriber as James.
Name: Ole James
Age in 1870: 55

Birthplace: Norway
Home in 1870: Emerald, Faribault, Minnesota
Race: White

My head is spinning. They are well disguised - but that is surely them. As you posted, in 1880 it's Ole 45 and Bettsy 45 with Julie 18, Annie 16, Susan 14, Emmanuel 11, Martha 10, (and Bettsy 6). Well done!
