Hi, My name is Roald Dahlen and I know that my name is the only one in the United States. Can someone tell me if there are others with my name in Norway or elsewhere in the world? Just curious!
Over the years a lot of people who were born in Norway carried the surname Dahlen. In Ancestry.com data base "All Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927 results for Dahlen" shows at least 1036 people born using the last name Dahlen.
Thanks for info! Don't see anyone with my first and last name. Maybe today there is someone in the world with the name my dad gave me. Roald Amundsen was the inspiration for my first name. Perhaps someone on this site will know about another with my name.
Emigrants from many parts of Norway with name Dahlen traveled to many parts of USA. The Norwegian emigration database I searched lists 156. The list is partial and doesn't include the variations.
Thanks all! My first name is not unique in Norway but with my last name it seems to be. Just kind of curious if anyone knows of another living today with the same name.
Maybe, I do not know for sure if the following people found in the Ancestry.com data base are still living but the records give an idea that they were alive not long ago.

Checked with Roald Dahlen from Abbotsford, B C Canada and his address is the same as 50 or so other people so believe he is in some nursing facility and will not check with him personally. Yet I know that there is one other with my full name and I thank you so much. This is a nice site for personal and other information.
In Hadeland parishes (Gran, Brandbu, Jevnaker and Lunner) there were several farms called 'Dahlen' and others just a few letters different - spelling variations.
But with dahl meaning valley - there were many farms with Dahl, Dahlen, Dale, etc. names all over the country.
Only one in world with my Norwegian name?
