Going further back in time this is likely Solomon Steffenson Varenes and his parents in the 1801 Norwegian Census. The Tree I was looking at does not go this far back but this is Solomon Steffenson Varennes and his parents Steffen Steffensen and Aase Salomonsdatter. See numbers 34, 35, and 36.

http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/en-gb/ft/person/pf01058374002687

if you go back and look at the 1865 Norwegian Census that was posted by Jan Peter that led to all this info, you will see at the bottom both of the parents of Aase also listed.

This looks like the baptism record for Solomon born April 19, 1800. Not easy to read but look on the right hand page second name down.

There are some other children of Solomon Steffenson Varenes and his wife Herborg Torresdotter Oyre.

Here is one
Torres Solomonson Warenes born December 10, 1824, see number 1 in 1825 right hand page.

http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=11554&idx_id=11554&uid=ny&idx_side=-60

He and his family in the 1865 Norwegian Census.

I read second name down as Samson.

However read on line 6 link: April 20, marriage of Steffen Steffenen, Helleland and Aasen Salomonsdatter, Øre.

Aasa and Torres Warenas were my husband's great grandparents. Varenes was Aasa's family's last name. Torres Torreson Oyre seems to be her husband's given name in Norway. In America, Aasa and Torres changed Varenes to Warenas and used it as their last name. Records show so many different spellings of their first and last names. Does anyone have any information on Aasa's brother Steffen Solomonson who moved to Canada? Thanks

Hi, I hook on this. Salamon Salamonson Varanes b. September 13 1839, he went to America 1866. The same year widow Herborg Torbjørnsdtr. Øyre b. Kvinnherad July 25. 1835 also went with her daughter Malena b. Kvnnherad January 16. 1863.
It seems to me that Salamon and Herborg married in Clinton, Iowa, Lyndal did find the Family in Cottonwood, Mn. Malena was not there. Malena's father was Anders G. Flatebø. Would there be some info what happeed to Malena, stepdaughter of Salamon? Magnar.

Please bear with me as I'm trying to figure out how to reply to an individual post. Our records do not show a stepdaughter of Solomon Solomonson (b. 1839). Our entry for Solomon and Herborg lists these children: twins Andrew and Solomon (b. 1867), Britanna (b. 1869), Herborg (b. 1872), Belle (b. 1875), Maddel (b. 1877), and Thomas (b. 1880)
