Lars Madson Sallthammer (son of Marits) sailed in 1904 in the "Egg" across the Atlantic Ocean.

He was with Ole Martin Brude, Iver Thoresen, and Karl Thomas Hagevik.

Lars is a distant ancestor of mine and I would like any information about his family in Vestnes.

Lars Johan Madsen Salthammer, born 03 Jun 1876 on Vestnes, dead 28 Mar 1906.
His parents were Mads Kristoffersen Salthammer (1842-1905) and Guri Larsdotter Huse Hammeraas (1846-1876)
Guri's father was the famous shipbuilder Lars Jensen Hammeraas on Vestnes. A brother to the shipbuilder Lars Hammeraas was named Rasmus, and the brothers worked together on the Hammeraas-shipyard.
The above picture of Lars Johan is taken in 1904, just prior to the Atlantic crossing.
.
A brother to Lars named Kristoffer (1879-1910), emigrated to USA in 1909. There are descendants there after him, named Meldahl.
The picture and information comes from Jens Chr. Aure, a great-grandson of Rasmus Hammeraas.
The shipname "Uręd" means "Fearless".
