Hi Lola, here is a record of a Wilhelm Olsen leaving Norway in 1906. He looks like your Wilhelm. Click on this link:
http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/gen/vis/8/pe00000001078210

Departure date: 16 March 1906
Departing from Kristiania (Kristiania is an old name for Oslo)
Passenger on the ship Montebello
Wilhelm Olsen
Age 20
Unmarried
Residence: Skouger
Destination: Canada

About 12 years later, Wilhelm was in Seattle, Washington, USA We know this because of a World War II draft enlistment record. The record tells his full birth date, which matches your Wilhelm. The record says he is unmarried. He registered with the Norwegian consulate as his address. So I guess maybe he is traveling all the time. He doesn't have his own home in Seattle. At least, that's what I think the record means.

After that, no one in the forum could find him. I did find some death records in Washington for Wilhelm Olsen and William Olsen, but there are quite a few. The records online that I saw were incomplete. It is impossible to tell which William is yours. We need birth date, or parents' names, or some other clue to show if it is your William. Maybe none of them is the right William. That is my guess, in fact.

For those Washington death records I saw, you have to order the record to see all of it. This costs money. You might order quite a few records and spend that money, and still maybe not find the right William. I can't speak for other listers, but this is why I let the matter drop.

For Wilhem Olsen, jkmarler posted the emmigration record on page 1 on your earlier query about Emil Konstatin Olsen as well as his WWI Registration Card. Look at the middle of the page.

As Jane and Jackie pointed out in their posts he used the Norwegian Consulate as his permantent address. So it is possible that he was employed as a seaman out of the port of Seattle. Here is a record for a Wilhelm Olsen working as a seaman out of the port of Seattle in 1914. Birth year is close.

Wilhelm Olsen
in the Washington, Passenger and Crew Lists, 1882-1961
Name: Wilhelm Olsen
Race/Nationality: USA
Birth Date: 1887
Port of Departure: Mogi, Japan
Arrival Age: 27
Arrival Date: 3 Apr 1914
Port of Arrival: Seattle, Washington
Ship Name: Thode Fagelund
Line Number: 30

This is the only record for Wilhelm Olsen as a seaman out of the west coast ports. However there are five more records for a Wiliam Olsen born 1886 or 1887. It is possible that he Americanzied his name from Wilhelm to William. Here is one of those records.

Name: William Olsen
Gender: Male
Race/Nationality: Scandinavian
Birth Date: 1886
Port of Departure: Port Alice, British Columbia
Arrival Age: 47
Arrival Date: 15 Sep 1933
Port of Arrival: Port Townsend, Washington
Ship Name: Sagadahoc
Line Number: 5

I like the finds, Anton.

The 1914 voyage you posted, that Wilhelm is on a ship called the Thode Fageman. Might be this ship:
http://www.wrecksite.eu/wreck.aspx?1078

In the 1918 World War I draft record, Wilhelm is a marine fireman. This record is definitely the right man.

In the 1920 census, that William is a fireman at sea.

Lola, here in the Norway Heritage Forum, I have never seen one single way to research a seaman. Instead, the forum tries to pick up clues here and there. Ancestry.com is probably the website Anton is using. You can join, and look yourself, but there is a fee.

A free website for you is Washington State Digital Archives. There you can search marriage and death records for Wilhelm Olsen or William Olsen.

Perhaps he was in Canada for some time after his 1906 emmigration. Here is a William Olsen travelling from Canada to Seattle. He lists his father as Olaf Olsen of Drammen Norway. Lists his previous address as Mill Corrd (sp?) B.C.

You are on a roll!

I didn't find a Wilhelm, William in the "old man" draft registration for World War II, born on Wilhelm's birth date.

Similar Wilhelms below, birth year varies - seemingly it's one ongoing trek on the Seirstad.

Washington, Passenger and Crew Lists (from Ancestry.com)
Wilhelm Olsen, age 37
Race/Nationality: Scandinavian
Birth Date: 1887
Occupation: Sailor
Port of Departure: Kobe, Japan
Port of Arrival: Tacoma, Washington
Arrival Date: 18 Jan 1924
Ship Name: Seirstad
Line Number: 6

Washington, Passenger and Crew Lists
Wilhelm Olsen, age 41
Race/Nationality: Scandinavian
Birth Date: 1883
Port of Departure: Kobe, Japan
Port of Arrival: Seattle, Washington
Arrival Date: 13 Apr 1924
Ship Name: Seirstad
Line Number: 6

Washington, Passenger and Crew Lists
Wilhelm Olsen, age 42
Race/Nationality: Scandinavian, Norwegian
Occupation: Sailor
Birth Date: 1882
Port of Departure: Yokohama, Japan
Port of Arrival: Seattle, Washington
Arrival Date: 28 Jun 1924
Ship Name: Seirstad
Line Number: 6

New York, Passenger Lists (Ancestry.com
Wilhelm Olsen, age 42
Ethnicity/ Nationality: Scandinavian
Birth Date: abt 1882
Port of Departure: Vancouver
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Arrival Date: 6 Dec 1924
Ship Name: Seirstad
Occupation: sailor
Tattoos on each arm

Lola, here are some databases to search that might show Wilhelm - a long shot:

Hi, here's another link, similar but with fewer databases. These are databases of Norwegians who died abroad. Since Wilhelm travelled as,a sailor, he might have died just about anywhere.

Click on a database.
Select "Forenamn" (first name) or "Etternamn" (last name) in first box.
Select "er lik" in middle box.
Type in what you want - Wilhelm or William etc.
Click Søk (search).

Below, link to Washington State Digital Archives so you can search it. Tried this already but worth another try.
http://www.digitalarchives.wa.gov/

Other websites you can try: Family Search (free), Find a Grave (free), Ancestry.com (fee).

I know more than one person has tried to find Wilhelm's death. Maybe you'll have better luck.

Hi Lola, here's a note I wrote earlier about Washington State Digital Archives. I guess it's up to you whether you'd like to order any of the death records that might be William.
