The birth record of Olaf identifies his father as Johan Bru b 1878 either born at Vorø or a resident there.

In the ELCA marriages database there is a marriage for a John P. Skei to an Andrea Olson on 2 Nov 1904 in Lake Park, Minnesota. Witnesses to the wedding are Mrs. Anne Skei and Anders Benjaminson.

This couple is at Cooperstown North Dakota in 1910 with their two children Eugene and Alice. The migration date for Johan says 1900

Here is the police list record for Johan Leonard Peders. Skei leaving in 1900:

Do you mean "Johan Lyder Johannes. Bruu", I think he is Olaf Bru's father

Johan Lyder Bru was the father of Olaf Bru and left for America shortly after Olaf was born. In America he probably became John Anderson living in Mountrail County, North Dakota. In 1915 Olaf was living with him in Mountrail Conty North Dakota.

He is different than John M Anderson from Becker and Clay Counties, in Minnesota who was Jens Mørk Andersen Mørk in Norway.

Both of the Johns Andersons were born about 1873 and in essentilly the same area of Nordland.

The origin of the name Bru comes from Bru in Strandebarm

Johan Lyders father Johan Johannesen Bru was born in Strandebarm ca 1841, conf. 1856 in Strandebarm.

Johan Lyders mother Lydia Franciska Christiansdatter was born in Bergen 1855, conf. in Bø 1870.

Here is the arrival of Johan Bru into America. His destination is listed as Bode Iowa. The ticket was paid for by his nephew. Who also may have been named Johan Bru and is from Humboldt, Iowa. This part is a little hard to understand.

Hmm, I wonder if I was wrong to assume that the John Anderson that Olaf lived with in North Dakota in 1915 was the same as Johan Lyder Bru born 1878. This Johan Lyder Bru matches closely with the Johan Lyder Bru found by Kåre, born Nov 12, 1878.

Johan Lyder Brue
in the U.S., Social Security Applications and Claims Index, 1936-2007
Name: Johan Lyder Brue
SSN: 533308117
Gender: Male
Race: White
Birth Date: 12 Nov 1878
Birth Place: Europe, Norway
Father Name: Johnnes J Brue
Mother Name: Lydia Kristiansen
Type of Claim: Original SSN.
Notes: May 1950: Name listed as JOHAN LYDER BRUE

In 1918, when Olaf was living with John Anderson in Mountrail County, North Dakota. Johan Lyder Brue was living in the state of Washington. And based on the other data, ie Census etc. lived there until he died.

Johan Lyder Brue
in the U.S., World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918
Name: Johan Lyder Brue
County: Island
State: Washington
Birth Date: 12 Nov 1878
Race: White

An obit on FAG states he came to Iowas in 1901 and moved to the state of Washington in 1903. He died in Washington in 1952.

However ELCA shows the confirmatin of the North Dakota Olaf Bru in 1914 along with the names of his parents. Stanley, North Dakota is in the county of Mountrail. That seems to match the baptism record for Olaf Bru born 15 June 1899 if you can assume that Oline is the same as Oive.

Olaf Bru
in the U.S., Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Records, 1875-1940
Name: Olaf Bru
Event Type: Confirmation
Confirmation Date: 30 May 1914
Father: Johan Bru
Mother: Olive Bru
Church Name: Stanley Evangelical Lutheran
Church Location: Stanley, North Dakota

Based on this record the North Dakota Olaf Brun is the same one listed on page one, born 15 June 1899 to Johan Bru and Oline Pedersdatte.

Olaf Brue
in the U.S., World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918
Name: Olaf Brue
[Olaf Burc]
County: Mountrail
State: North Dakota
Birth Date: 15 Jun 1899
Race: White

The OP might want to weigh in with how and why Olaf Brue was thought to be Jens Mork Anderson's son....

What and spoil the fun of rank speculation on who is who. Much too sensible.

Where do you have the information that Olaf Bru was son of Jens Mørk Andersen?
