Good find, probably the right man. In the 1865 Census he and his family were living in Austre Moland a municipality near Arendal. I will draw a line through him.

Interesting that more than one child ended up using the Dahl name. Signe Olivide Olsen daughter of Kasja Nilsen and stepsister of Mathilde Ottilie used the Dahl name when she married in the US. She traveled to America in 1903 or 1904 to Minneapolis. She met and married an older man, his second marriage, Sofus Wettergreen Parelius. They seemed to have lived in Minneapolis most of the time but for some reason married in Texas. I am curious as to why she would have chosen to use the Dahl name.

Probably her leaving in 1903.

Sofus father Jacob von der Lippe Parelius was "lensman" sheriff on Nesna.
