1910 was apparently a very hard luck year in the family: as 18 year old Clara died in a toboggan accident and Conrad was frozen and had to have both feet and hands amputated.
The newspaper was the Stevens Point Journal published on Saturday 5 Feb 1910, under the byline of Chippewa Falls. Conrad's accident occurred on Saturday 29 Jan 1910. Clara's death/ accident was described as occurring several days before. The weird thing was they were each in St. Joseph's Hospital. Clara is likely to be the child called Laura in the 1900 census.
Jacobia probably going by her middle name in 1910: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MPVP-WJN
Jacobia / Mary Paaske according to the 1910 census has had 8 children / 5 children living. She has not died as of the date of the census. |

Also in the Eau Claire Daily Telegram on 18 Dec 1915, says Mary Paaske died at her home in Eau Claire of stomach cancer on 17 Dec 1915.
She was survived by, in addition to her children, two brothers S.J. and O.J Olson of Menominie Wisconsin which town was her family's destination in 1886. |

Greatest likelihood is that Conrad didn't survive the freezing and amputations. The article said he had laid by the road for 14 hours in the cold.
If you Google "Conrad Paaske" you will find that he was a day laborer for the State of Wisconsin in 1909 and 1910, perhaps in their employ when his accident happened.

Well it was not an easy search but here is the family arriving in Canada. Transcriptions for these old manifests are sometimes a real challenge. I could not find the parents so I went looking for the child Olaf born 1884 plus minus 2 and found this person
.Olaf Abansen in the Canadian Passenger Lists, 1865-1935 Name: Olaf Abansen Gender: Male Age: 2 Birth Year: abt 1884 Date of Arrival: 5 Aug 1886 Vessel: Toronto Search Ship Database: Search for the Toronto in the 'Passenger Ships and Images' database Port of Arrival: Quebec, Quebec, Canada Port of Departure: Liverpool, England
The original manifest reads
Konrad Olaussen (misread by the transcriber as shown above) Karin J Olaf Ole
All going to Menomonie, Wis.
