Is there anyone who can help research my Danish ancestors? My grandfather, Carl Larsen (Pedersen) was born on July 31, 1870 and emigrated to American in the 1890's. His parents were Lars Christian Pedersen, born May 30, 1826 in Bjergby, Viborg, Denmark and Kirsten(Christine) Marie Jensdatter, born August 3, 1824 in Sundby, Thisted, Denmark. They had 6 children with Carl being the youngest. A sister, Else Marie, (b. Oct. 20, 1857; d. Aug., 1942) and a brother Peter Larsen (b. June 27, 1856; d. May 2, 1919) also emigrated to American and I understand they came before Carl. I would like to know the birth and death dates of those remaining in Denmark; namely Poul Pedersen, Jens Pedersen and Soren Pedersenand perhaps their families I also have info that says they were from Sundby, Isle of Mors, Denmark. Is it possible to find the emigration date for Carl and the name of the ship. I would like this info to add to my family tree. Thank you!

You seem to have a lot of information already, where did you come by it?

Here is the Copenhagen Police Lists search engine (like the Norwegian police lists of emigrants):

A tough one. If this is your Carl the 1910 Census would indicate an immigration near 1890. But even limiting the search to 1890 gives 6 or so potential candidates arriving in New York in 1890 with very little to separate out the right one. The 1920 and 1930 Census also lists 1890 as the immigraton year.

lyndal40 - Yes, that is the right Carl. I am interested in knowing information of Lars Christian and Kristen Pedersen after Carl emigrates and about his brothers, Poul, Soren and Jens. Also, I question if there was a sister Zidsel. I found Lars Christian and Kristen along with Soren and Karl in the 1880 census. But I cannot find them in any other census. Very complicated, it seems.

There are many Family Trees on Ancestry.com for this family. How accurate they are is hard to judge. One of them indicates that Jens also came to America and died in Salt Lake City. How accurate do you feel that is.

Jens Christian Pedersen
1854–1935
BIRTH 18 OCTOBER 1854 • denmark
DEATH 30 SEPTEMBER 1935 • Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah, USA

From Ancestriy.com
Jens Christian Pedersen
in the U.S., Find A Grave Index, 1600s-Current
Name: Jens Christian Pedersen
Birth Date: 18 Oct 1854
Birth Place: Denmark
Death Date: 30 Sep 1935
Death Place: Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah, USA
Cemetery: Salt Lake City Cemetery
Burial or Cremation Place: Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah, USA
Has Bio?: Y
Spouse: Maren Pedersen
Children: Peter Marius Pedersen
Stella Laura Caroline Pedersen

The FAG page would seem to cast some doubt as the parents listed there do not match particularly well with those you have given above.

I appreciate the census reports of 1860 and 1870. I do feel the Jens Christian Pedersen from Salt Lake City is not our Jens Pedersen. Apparently their first daughter, Ane Kristine, died as I have not seem her name on any information I have. I would like to know if Jens, Soren and Poul married and had families and what they did for a living. Would anyone be able to guide me to a contact that I could get in touch with in Denmark? Many thanks for what you have found!
